End of twitter post 2Summary: Scottish Tory leader Ruth Davidson wins Edinburgh Centralpublished at 05:08 British Summer Time 6 May 2016
05:08 BST 6 May 2016Scottish Conservative leader Ruth Davidson has won the Edinburgh Central seat from the SNP.
Ms Davidson, who had previously been elected to Holyrood through the list, beat SNP candidate Alison Dickie by 610 votes.
She received 10,399 votes, an increase of 15% from 2011 when the Conservatives came fourth.
Speaking after her victory, Ms Davidson said: "I promise I will serve to the very best of my ability."
She told BBC Scotland that all the indications were that the Tories had "edged ahead" of Labour in the battle to become Scotland's main opposition."
"This is indicative of how voters can change and make a considered choice," she said of her victory in the Edinburgh Central seat.
"I am under no illusion that everybody who voted for me in that seat is a true-blue, dyed-in-the wool Tory, and neither are they in places up and down Scotland.
"They are people who want us to do a very specific job, and that it is to hold the SNP to account

End of twitter postProf Curtice casts his eye over the list votes so farpublished at 05:05 British Summer Time 6 May 2016
05:05 BST 6 May 2016We now have the list votes for 13 constituencies in Scotland.
To date the Con vote is up by 10 points and the Labour vote down by 8.
If this pattern continues then the Cons should emerge ahead of Labour in the new parliament.
Meanwhile the Greens' advance is running at 2 points which suggests they're heading for about 6% of the vote.
While this should see the party win a number of extra MSPs it may be touch and go as to whether the Greens manage to overtake the Lib Dems.

Note also Jackie Bailie's successful defence of Dumbarton despite the fact that the Scottish Labour party came out against the renewal of Trident, whhic is based in the constituency.
