  6. Gower - 'it shouldn't be too much of a surprise'published at 03:02 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    Jac Larner
    Cardiff University

The Conservatives won Gower for the first time from Labour by just 27 votes in 2015, making it the most marginal seat in the UK.

It shouldn’t be too much of a surprise that Labour have managed to win it back: the three most recent Wales-only seat projections suggested Gower changing back to Labour.

Labour also polled very well there in the local elections last month, winning 35% of the vote to the Conservatives' 21%, outperforming their own expectations and signalling a strong ground campaign.

    David Deans
    Wales politics reporter

A Plaid Cymru source says the way tonight has been going "I think we've done a good job in keeping our three seats".

But Ceredigion may still be up in the air - it is very very close, the source says.

Could Ceredigion be a surprise gain for the party tonight?

  14. Two-party squeeze 'clearly evident'published at 02:53 British Summer Time 9 June 2017

    Jac Larner
    Cardiff University

The two-party squeeze taking place across the UK is clearly evident in Wales.

Of the 29 seats to declare in Wales so far - and bear in mind two of those have been won by Plaid Cymru - the combined vote share average of Labour and Conservatives has been 82%.

Plaid Cymru, the Liberal Democrats and UKIP are being squeezed across the country.
