Six people have been sentenced for a nightclub brawl that lead to the murder of a man in Wolverhampton.

Shropshire factory worker Thomas Kirwan, 23, was fatally stabbed outside the Uberra Club on 8 July 2013.

Three men were found guilty of affray at Wolverhampton Crown Court on Friday. One man and a woman pleaded guilty to the same charge. All five were sent to a young offenders institution.

Another woman got a 12 month community order for public order offences.

Nathan Hanson, 20, of Enville Road, Warstones, Shannon Samuels, 20, of Overton Walk, Merry Hill, and Kieran Stubbs, 20, of Brantley Avenue, Finchfield, were each sentenced to 16 months behind bars after being found guilty of affray.

Investigation ongoing

Judane Brown, 20, of Kingswood Gardens, Penn, pleaded guilty to affray and was given a 14-month sentence.

Edward Clayton, 20, of Brookdale Drive, Penn, admitted the same charge and was jailed for one year.

Shanice Dowie, 20, of Strathfield Walk, Merry Hill, pleaded guilty to threatening behaviour and was handed a 12-month community order with a four month curfew.

West Midlands Police said it was still working on finding Mr Kirwan's killer.

Det Insp Warren Hines said: "Many people have already come forward but we know that someone who was outside the club knows who killed Tom − please come forward."
