Grant Shapps on polls, welfare, Cameron and Thatcher

The Conservative Party chairman said David Cameron's policy for an in-out referendum for the UK's relationship with the UK was "a pretty big move" that was not offered by Margaret Thatcher.

The prime minister has "done a tremendous amount" and been "very radical" despite not having a majority, said Grant Shapps.

He spoke to Andrew Neil about focus groups and polls, welfare caps, and later they looked at the spare room subsidy, know to opponents as the "bedroom tax".

And asked if he was a Thatcherite, Mr Shapps said: "I think I probably am."
