Plans for a new school and community complex have taken another step forward with the submission of a detailed planning application for the project.

Highland Council has proposed constructing a new Wick High School, primary school, swimming pool, fitness suite and library.

Costing an estimated £53m, the project could start before the end of this year and be completed by August 2015.

The council and Scottish government are funding the development.
