This weekend open auditions will be held to find a girl to star in JK Rowling's Harry Potter spin-off film.

But did you know movie star Rupert Grint did exactly the same thing when he was 11 to get his role as Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter films?

And he heard about the original open auditions whilst watching Newsround!

'I found out you could audition on Newsround'

Rupert hadn't done any professional acting before he won the role of Ron Weasley.

But he had his fair share of school plays under his belt, including playing gangster Rooster in Annie, Peter Pan and Rumplestiltskin in the Grimm Tales.

For the audition, Rupert made a video tape of himself performing a rap he had written explaining why he was perfect for the role of Ron Weasley.
