Fans from both sides arrived at the stadium excited for what was expected to be a gripping contest between two of the NFL's best teams.

Among those watching were some famous faces. President Donald Trump made history as he became the become first sitting president to attend a Super Bowl.

Celebrities were out in force including Taylor Swift, Jay-Z, Sir Paul McCartney and Bradley Cooper. Pop superstar Tay-Tay was there to cheer on her boyfriend Travis Kelce, who plays for the Kansas City Chiefs.

The Chiefs hoped to be the first team to win three Super Bowls in a row after they won against the San Francisco 49ers last year.

But after a quiet first quarter it was the Eagles who took control of the match.

The Chiefs were left scoreless and looking well-beaten before rapper Kendrick Lamar's half-time stage had even been set up.

The Super Bowl Halftime Show is one of the biggest events in America and some of the best artists in the world perform to millions of viewers. This year it was multiple award-winning rapper Kendrick Lamar who entertained.

The Grammy award winner was even also joined by frequent collaborator SZA during his set and tennis legend Serena Williams also made a surprise appearance as a dancer.

And the entertainment didn't stop there. Throughout the game fans were treated to a number of movie trailers and special adverts. Special Super Bowl trailers and teasers were shown of upcoming movies from Jurassic World Rebirth to Lilo & Stitch.

And, if you are a How to Train Your Dragon fan, there was something for you, too. Whilst the official movie trailer isn't out yet, the games treated us to a short look of the live-action adaptation of the movie that is soaring into cinemas this summer.

Back to the game, and the Chiefs managed to get a score on the board. However, the Eagles fought back and continued to extend their lead.

And the final score: 40-22 to the Eagles, ending the Kansas City Chiefs' dreams of a third straight Super Bowl.

That meant head coach Nick Sirianni was treated to a bucket of Gatorade over his head. The Gatorade shower for a coach has become a tradition after a hard-fought victory - it dates back to the mid-1980s!
