Imagine stepping into Europe's biggest football competition and scoring almost every time you play.

That's exactly what Manchester City's Erling Haaland has been doing.

He has now reached 50 Champions League goals in 49 games... and no one in history has done it faster.

To compare, Lionel Messi did it in 66 games, Kylian Mbappé in 79.

While Cristiano Ronaldo - despite being the competition’s record goalscorer - had a slow(ish) start, achieving 50 goals in 91 games.

Haaland's Champions League journey began with RB Salzburg in 2019, when he scored a hat-trick on his first Champions League debut.

From there, the goals just kept coming.

By March 2021, while playing for Borussia Dortmund, he had reached 20 goals in only 14 games - another record.

In November 2022, with Manchester City, he hit the 30-goal mark after just 25 matches, smashing the previous record held by the former Real Madrid and Manchester United striker, Ruud van Nistelrooy (34 games).

Then, in October 2023, he raced to 40 goals in 35 games, again faster than anyone else.

And goal number 50? It came against Napoli, as City won 2–0 during this season’s league stage of the competition.
