How much could this Pokémon shaped Cheeto fetch at auction?

Pokémon collectors' items have been around for many years, but have you ever seen anything quite like this?

A Flamin' Hot Cheeto in the shape of Pokémon Charizard is being sold by auction house Goldin this month.

The super spicy snack, which is just three inches (7.62 centimetres) long, could soon be the property of one lucky bidder.

On Friday the bid stood at over $2000 (around £1580), with just over a week still to go before the auction ends.

The strangely shaped Cheeto was first discovered and preserved between 2018 and 2022 by 1st & Goal Collectibles, a store that collects and sells sports items including cards.

But it wasn't until late 2024 that the crunchy crisp saw a rise in popularity, gaining lots of fans on social media.

The Cheeto is displayed in a clear storage box along with its very own customised Pokémon card complete with the name 'Cheetozard'.

There have been questions around whether the Cheeto was changed in any way to look like Charizard, but Goldin has confirmed this isn't the case.

A Goldin representative confirmed with Newsround that the Cheeto was "found like this".

So how much could the rare snack go for? It's hard to say at the moment, but a Cheeto in the shape of a famous gorilla sold for a massive $100,000 (around £79,000 today) back in 2017, while a Canadian couple's man-shaped find bagged then $20,500 (around £16,200) in 2018.

Only time and a true Pokémon enthusiast will tell how much this Cheeto is really worth.
