Scott Allan will have pick of clubs, says Hibs boss Alan Stubbs

Manager Alan Stubbs has urged Scott Allan to bide his time with Hibernian then aim for England's Premier League.

Hibs have rejected a £175,000 offer from Rangers for the 23-year-old midfielder, who is entering the final 12 months of his contract.

"He'll have plenty of top offers come the end of the season," said Stubbs.

"I fully believe he can play in the Premier League in England. That's how highly I rate him. He's got a year left to do well."

Allan has already had a taste of England's top flight, having moved to West Brom from Dundee United in 2012.

However, he did not make a single appearance for the Baggies, spending his two seasons south of the border on loan in the lower divisions.

On returning to Scotland, Allan excelled for Hibs in the Championship last season and the Easter Road side are anxious to retain him for another bid at promotion, accepting that he will not sign a new deal.

Rangers have long been linked with a move for Allan but, now that an offer has been made and rejected, Stubbs is adamant his team will not be disrupted.

And he has no concerns about selecting the midfielder for Saturday's Scottish Challenge Cup tie against Rangers at Easter Road because he is certain the player will be mentally prepared.

"He's a professional footballer, you have to get your head right, no matter the decision made," explained Stubbs.

"I've got no reason why [Allan] shouldn't be in the side [on Saturday].

"Our plan is very clear. We've said time and again, we're prepared for Scott to see out his contract. Nothing has changed.

"Going by their bid, it was very low and I was quite surprised because you're talking about one of he best midfielders in Scotland. They mustn't rate him very highly going by the bid.

"I've spoken to Scott, our relationship is good. He's aware of everything that's going on and our intentions.

"He's got a year left on his contract and we are not in a position where we would like to do any business with one of our main competitors this season.

"We're at the stage in the season where I can't stop any bids coming in, the transfer window is open. We don't welcome any bids for any of our players and that will be our stance.

"Does the timing surprise me? Not at all. I'm surprised actually it came yesterday and not on Friday."
