  3. field goal

Field goal - Commanderspublished at 20:15 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Washington Commanders 3-0 Philadelphia Eagles

Zane Gonzalez boots a 34-yarder to get Washington on the board after a gruelling 18-play drive - their longest of year!

Well, that was quite something! Two fourth-down conversions on the opening drive of a Championship Game. Could they have gone for it again, well, yes of course, but it'd be a killer to come away without any points there.

Plus, they've put Philly on notice that they're not scared to take chances.

Another fourth down and - breaking news - Washington are going to kick the field goal!

  5. They get it again!published at 20:13 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Washington Commanders 0-0 Philadelphia Eagles

Oh wow! They go for it again on fourth down and this time Jayden Daniels takes off and dives forward to convert yet another fourth down.

Washington well within field goal range as well so it'd be so easy to just take the three points, but Dan Quinn is sticking to his guns.

    Brilliant stuff early on.

  6. Fourth down completion!published at 20:11 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Washington Commanders 0-0 Philadelphia Eagles

No team has ever converted as many fourth downs in NFL play-off history as these Commanders, and that's another one as tight end Zach Ertz hauls in a seven-yard pass on fourth-and-five.

  7. Going for itpublished at 20:10 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Washington Commanders 0-0 Philadelphia Eagles

Cooper DeJean breaks up a deep pass by Jayden Daniels and it's fourth down - and the Commanders are going for it!

Dan Quinn staying true to his word to keep on going for it, this is big....

  8. First downpublished at 20:08 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Washington Commanders 0-0 Philadelphia Eagles

Wow! Great catch and burst from Olamide Zaccheaus as the throw from Jayden Daniels was a touch low even though his offensive line gave him plenty of time to scan the field.

Two solid third-down conversions early on.

  9. First down!published at 20:06 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

    Washington Commanders 0-0 Philadelphia Eagles

Nice throw by Jayden Daniels to hit Terry McLaurin on third-and-six to move the chains.

Almost a sack first off! Jayden Daniels does well to battle his way to a gain of a yard as Jalen Carter and his mates come hunting the quarterback right out of the gate.

Here we go! Jayden Daniels and the Washington offence get the ball first - The Linc will be loud!

  12. Is Jayden Daniels the best rookie quarterback ever?published at 20:02 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

He's the best that I've ever seen. It's because nothing is too big for him. A lot of times with rookies you spoon feed them, you don't give them too much. But if you're the offensive coordinator and you can throw it all on his plate. That means the offense is wide open and that's why they are operating at a high level.

You want to speed up his process, get him moving around. On the flip-side, the Eagles want to show the Commanders defence that Hurts can move.

Dan Quinn's Commanders have got this far by swinging for the fences and going for broke - they've converted a record six fourth downs this post-season alone.

And on offence they'll continue to use the 'no-huddle' offence to tey and keep Jalen Carter and this Eagles pass rush at arm's length.

Jayden Daniels already has operated in the no-huddle 60% of the time in the season, that's over 35% MORE than any other side.

So watch for Washington to go up-tempo.

Jalen Hurts is deadly in that 'tush push' formation and last week had a career-best 44-yard touchdown run, but he injured his knee and will wear a brace tonight.

So Hurts may have to throw the ball a lot more if Washington focus on stopping Saquon Barkley.

Hurts has a higher passer rating than Jayden Daniels even though the rookie has received far more praise for his precision passing. Who will come out on top tonight?

  17. Rookie sensation transforms Commanderspublished at 19:54 Greenwich Mean Time 26 January

Jayden Daniels has been immense, turning around a four-win team into one just a game away from making the Super Bowl.

Washington lost the season opener, then won seven of eight before a three-game losing skid. It's been seven wins in a row since then though, including a win over these Eagles and two road play-off wins at Tampa Bay and Detroit.

He's been incredible, with precision passing, intelligent running and just an ice-cold temperament that's shown in all the last-minute comebacks he's engineered.

He's generated 72% of the Washington offence so you just can't overstate how big he is for this team - they'll go as far as he takes them...

This kid [Jayden Daniels] is by far one of the most cool, calm and collected guys I've seen play in the NFL, especially a quarterback.

I would normally be excited going against a guy like this [a rookie] but he's on an even keel. I don't think I could bother him unless I started by hitting him nice and hard!

Jayden Daniels' anticipation and accuracy is on-point. They trust him to do everything. He can do it all for this offence, a rookie that can do it all for you. That's what he's going to have to do today.

Efe Obada talks about 'special' Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels

Efe Obada on Washington team-mate Jayden Daniels: "He’s a special guy. I saw it early on – just the fact that he came in really early, his commitment to his preparation, the things that he’s able to do on the field, how comfortable and poised he is in the pocket, his ability to extend plays.

"He’s someone that when talent meets hard work you see it behind the scenes. He’s just ultra focused, he goes above and beyond, and the whole team is behind him.

"He relies on his preparation and that allows him to be comfortable and process information at a higher speed to most rookie quarterbacks."
