Six teams remain unbeaten after week three of the NFL season, with five managing to maintain their winning start on Sunday.

Super Bowl favourites the Buffalo Bills, who won on Thursday, were joined on 3-0 by the Philadelphia Eagles, San Francisco 49ers, Indianapolis Colts, Los Angeles Chargers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Indianapolis are this season's biggest surprise package so far and again turned on the style, while defending champions Philadelphia had to fight back and then survive a late scare.

There were some thrilling finishes and unlikely heroes as five of Sunday's 13 games were decided by field goals as time expired, while nine touchdowns were scored on defence or special teams.

The San Francisco 49ers and Los Angeles Chargers both remain unbeaten after kicking field goals as time expired to beat the Arizona Cardinals and Denver Broncos, respectively.

The Chicago Bears overcame the Dallas Cowboys for their first win under new head coach Ben Johnson while the Seattle Seahawks brushed aside the struggling New Orleans Saints.

Sunday's early games also provided some nail-biting finishes as the Cleveland Browns snatched a 13-10 win over the Green Bay Packers.

The Philadelphia Eagles pulled off a second-half fightback before blocking a Los Angeles Rams kick that would have secured victory - and they returned it for a touchdown to win 33-26.

There was also late drama as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers beat the New York Jets, and Aaron Rodgers moved into fourth on the all-time list for touchdown passes as the Pittsburgh Steelers triumphed, along with the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Elsewhere, there were comfortable victories for the Indianapolis Colts, Minnesota Vikings, Carolina Panthers and Washington Commanders.

Vikings cornerback Isaiah Rodgers had quite a day as he became the first NFL player to return an interception for a touchdown, return a fumble for a touchdown and force two fumbles in the same game.

  4. Next up Dublin - then Londonpublished at 00:46 BST 22 September

We'll be back next Sunday for a momentous weekend for Irish fans as the NFL is staging its first regular-season game in Ireland.

The Pittsburgh Steelers play the Minnesota Vikings at Dublin's Croke Park so, of course, each team will be hosting events around the city.

But if you'll be in and around Dublin, bear in mind there are also free fan events being held by the Kansas City Chiefs and Green Bay Packers, who both have marketing rights in Ireland and the UK. A Chiefs executive has even said they hope to play in Dublin next season.

"Since becoming the NFL's latest dynasty team, the Chiefs have really put an emphasis on their global fanbase," Henry Hodgson, NFL UK and Ireland general manager, told BBC Sport.

"They're excited about expanding their footprint wherever in the world. They played in Brazil earlier this season and I think [talking about a potential Dublin game] is probably reflective of that ambition of theirs. It's nice to know more teams are interested in doing that."

The three London games then follow and tickets are still available, which Hodgson says is down to the increased options for international games and a change in the NFL's ticketing strategy.

"We're confident that the games will be full when gameday comes around," Hodgson added. "Everything around our ticketing process this year wasn't good enough so we're looking at that, we're listening."

Anything you can do Justin Herbert...

Mac Jones is in for the injured Brock Purdy and was banged up himself. But after Arizona punt with just under two minutes left, he too manages to lead the 49ers to a game-winning drive.

Christian McCaffrey made a key catch-and-run for 20 yards before Jones spiked the ball, giving Eddy Pineiro the chance to win it with his third field goal of the day from 35 yards.

Denver Broncos 20-23 Los Angeles Chargers

This time Denver can't even gain a yard on their possession as they're forced to punt with less than two minutes left.

Justin Herbert then manages the drive perfectly to put the Chargers in position to claim victory as time expires, and Cameron Dicker kicks his third field goal of the day from 43 yards to win it.

Dak Prescott was benched for the final minutes of this game, but his replacement Joe Milton III throws the Cowboys' third interception of the day - how fitting.

Kevin Byard comes up with the pick, and a couple of kneels later we're out of time.

The Bears get off the mark and improve to 1-2, while the Cowboys drop to the same record.

  10. Safety - Arizona edge in frontpublished at 00:14 BST 22 September

Arizona Cardinals 15-13 San Francisco 49ers

Mac Jones is intercepted by Arizona safety Dadrion Taylor-Demerson but the Cardinals are then forced to punt.

However, on the next play, Jones is sacked on his own goal-line by Mack Wilson, and the 49ers also concede a holding penalty on the play, so Arizona edge in front with a safety with three minutes remaining.

Anthony Wootton on Dak Prescott throwing a second interception of the day:

"I question the decision making - Dak's floated pass to the corner. You're one yard out, just try and punch it in, run it in.

"That pick was on Dak, but credit where it's due to the Chicago defence."

  13. Turnover - Prescott intercepted againpublished at 00:05 BST 22 September

    Dallas Cowboys 14-31 Chicago Bears

The Cowboys go for it on fourth and one at the Chicago one-yard line, but Dak Prescott's floated pass intended for Jalen Tolbert is picked off by Tremaine Edmunds - that's the cornerback's second pick today!

The Bears defence shipped 52 points against the Detroit Lions last week, but they have really stepped up today.

Arizona Cardinals 6-13 San Francisco 49ers

Almost five minutes into the final quarter, we finally have a touchdown in San Francisco.

49ers quarterback Mac Jones turns to Christian McCaffrey and Ricky Pearsall on the drive before rolling out of the pocket and finding a wide-open Kyle Juszczyk in the end zone for a one-yard score.

  16. Turnover - Prescott interceptedpublished at 23:45 BST 21 September

    Dallas Cowboys 14-31 Chicago Bears

That might be it for the Dallas Cowboys.

Dak Prescott looks for George Pickens on the right side of the field, but the ball is tipped by the receiver and is picked by Tremaine Edmunds.

The Bears get the ball on their own 27.

  17. field goal

Denver Broncos 20-13 Los Angeles Chargers

You've got to admire the approach of this Denver team under coach Sean Payton. They go for it on 4th & 1 at the Chargers' 32-yard line and it pays off as Bo Nix finds Courtland Sutton down the middle for a 22-yard catch-and-run.

They're unable to punch it on though, so Wil Lutz converts a 26-yard field goal.

  18. 'Johnson's got an uphill battle but I think he will be successful'published at 23:40 BST 21 September

Chicago are looking good today and former Bears cornerback Charles ‘Peanut’ Tillman is optimistic about what they can achieve under new head coach Ben Johnson.

Just before the season, he told me: “Ben Johnson’s got an uphill battle but I think he will be successful because I think the team is yearning for a coach to come in and lead. From what I can tell, the guys are ready to be led. I get the sense that Ben Johnson is a man who can lead them to some really good victories, for years to come.

“They recognised they’re weak in an area - offensive line – and they made the necessary adjustments to try to correct that, to be a competitive team.

“The NFC North is a really tough division. Detroit were the best in the Conference last season and Minnesota and Green Bay are both good, so if you’ve got three good teams and you’re at the bottom then yeah, you’ve got to set your game up.”
