    Washington Commanders 45-28 Detroit Lions

Detroit are still in there fighting, with Amon-Ra St Brown taking a great catch, but an deven bigger hit as he's smashed as soon as he catches a 20-yard pass from Jared Goff that moves Detriot to the brink of the red zone.

Washington lost Sam Cosmi (guard) earlier in the game. But it doesn't matter, it's not changed what they've been able to do physically.

An incredible display of poise and composure from Daniels. That's part of the emotional make-up. Then there's the physical make-up. The speed, the accuracy, he's got the whole package.

  5. touchdown

It's there! A tough one-yard bulldozer of a run from Jeremy McNichols who stretches to get the ball over the line for their sixth touchdown of the game!

  6. Completed!published at 03:53 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 38-28 Detroit Lions

They get it again! Jayden Daniels has ice in his veins, as he finds Terry McLaurin on the fourth down throw to move the sticks all the way to the five-yard line.

  7. Drop!published at 03:52 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 38-28 Detroit Lions

Wow, we've not seen too many missed passes from Jayden Daniels or too many drops from Terry McLaurin, but we have both on that one play and now they'll go for it again on fourth down..

  8. Postpublished at 03:51 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 38-28 Detroit Lions

Not a great time for a delay of game penalty on Washington, but Jayden Daniels responds with a big pass to Zach Ertz who is brought down just shy of the first down marker.

They tried to run something a little bit gimmicky. A non-quarterback trying to throw the ball and read the defence. Not a great time for a trick play.

  10. Postpublished at 03:48 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 38-28 Detroit Lions

Austin Ekeler steams through a huge gap in the middle of the Detroit defensive line andhe scampers up across midfield for a massive 35-yard gain.

That's a big kick in the guts coming right on the back of that interception.

If you're doing a trick play you shouldn't be doing it with someone who's not used to throwing the ball on a consistent basis. So for me, I blame that one on Ben Johnson.

  12. Interception!published at 03:45 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 38-28 Detroit Lions

It's a trick play with receiver Jameson Williams ending up throwing the pass down the field, and he's intercepted by Mike Sainristil - his second pick of the game!

That's an absolutely massive turning point in the game as Detroit were still moving the ball with ease in convential methods before trying that trickeration, which has backfired badly.

This is where you've got to keep focus for all four quarters. 12 men on the field - you just can't give them a gift like that in the red zone.

  14. What a mistake.published at 03:42 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 38-28 Detroit Lions

We're still trying to figure out how Detroit did not recognise those 12 men on the field as that was a massive momentum changer of a play on fourth down. That could have changed the game right there.

You just can't make mistakes like that in the play-offs. It's not quite panic stations just yet but down 10 with just over 13 minutes left they have to get a wriggle on.

  15. touchdown

Touchdown - Commanders!published at 03:39 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 38-28 Detroit Lions

And Washington make them pay! We've had some fancy trick plays in this game, but this is just pounding the rock with running back Brian Robinson taking it right up the gut for the touchdown.

That restores the Commanders' 10-point lead.

  16. Huge flag!published at 03:38 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 31-28 Detroit Lions

Oh no! Detroit have 12 men on the field but nobody notices and the flag flies which gives Washington a first down just a yard out. That's a massive mistake not only from the players but Detroit's coaches who should've spotted that and called a timeout.

  17. Get Involved - Who wins?published at 03:36 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 31-28 Detroit Lions

Let's keep this simple, who will be the last team standing here?

Thumbs up for Detroit as the home team, thumbs down for Washington.

  18. End of the third quarterpublished at 03:35 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 31-28 Detroit Lions

We end the third with Austin Ekeler burrowing for a couple of yards to the Detroit five on second down. So it will be third down and two when we start the fourth quarter - room to get a first down before a touchdown if needed.

Definitely four down territory for this Commanders team.

  19. First down!published at 03:32 Greenwich Mean Time

    Washington Commanders 31-28 Detroit Lions

Fourth and two - of course Washington go for it and Jayden Daniels thinks about the hand off but keeps it and manages to get to the edge and convert for the first down.

    Good wheels on the rookie.

Everyone says how cool, calm and collected Jayden Daniels is. When you add that to the work ethic he has, nothing surprises me. There's a reason why he has so many comeback wins this season.

When all else goes wrong, the quarterback can make people right. That's why Washington drafted him.
