Summary

  1. End of first quarterpublished at 00:19 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-7 Philadelphia Eagles

That's the end of the first stanza of this one, and what a breathless opening it's been despite just the one touchdown.

To sum up so far - the Eagles offensive line is dominating proceedings. Just a hint Steve Spagnuolo was getting to grips with them with two plays before the end of the quarter - but that penalty on a third down sack was a killer.

If Philly score on this drive now that will be a real sickener for Kansas City as they dropped Jalen Hurts only for the play to be ruled out.

So we got a soft pass interference call for the Chiefs and then a very soft personal foul for the Eagles. The refs trying to even things up?

    Pete, feeling confused

  3. Sack ruled out!published at 00:18 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-7 Philadelphia Eagles

KC look like they've got a hueg sack on Jalen Hurts but it's chalked off for a really poor pre-snap penalty for offside.

Charles Omenihu it was with his hand in the wrong place - that's criminal in a big game like this.

Currently travelling in Japan and watching the game in Tokyo. First time ever watching as the time difference permits. Not really sure what the rules are but seems a blast - there are some big fellas on the pitch!

  5. Eagles rollingpublished at 00:17 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-7 Philadelphia Eagles

Jalen Hurts takes off for a nine-yard run and Saquon Barkley converts another first down and this big, powerful offensive line is just pummeling the Chiefs right now and proving impossible to slow down, let alone stop.

The Eagles are pressuring Mahomes on every single snap. Reminiscent of what the Buccaneers did to the Chiefs O-line in the Super Bowl a few seasons ago. And we all know how that one ended…

  7. First downpublished at 00:15 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-7 Philadelphia Eagles

It's all too easy for Jalen Hurts back there who has a clean pocket to sit in until he lobs an easy pass to Jahan Dotson who makes his second catch of the game.

You'd like to see Patrick Mahomes make quicker decisions.

Not very consistent so far. If this was a rookie or a guy in his first Super Bowl, we'd think he was nervous.

Halfway through that drive, I started to see some of the things I saw when they lost to Tampa Bay in the Super Bowl four years ago.

Do you think the Brotherly Shove or tush push as it's called should be allowed? There's a lot of people who don't like it.

    It's a good job there's a roof on here.

As VIPs arrived earlier to be greeted by a brass band, the heavens opened, forcing the outside concourses to clear as everyone rushed inside.

As we came up from the media room right before kick-off, part of the route is uncovered and it was still pouring down.

That would have put a dampener on the pre-game proceedings.

Taylor Swift has just been shown on the big screen for the first time, resulting in mostly boos.

She clearly heard them as she gave a cheeky smile to her friend before looking back to the field.

As for Donald Trump, there were mostly big cheers when the US president was first shown on the big screen.

  13. Fourth down - Chiefs puntpublished at 00:10 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-7 Philadelphia Eagles

Third and three and Patrick Mahomes is swallowed up quickly by the pass rush and it's a desperate diving throw to Hollywood Brown that sails over his head and on fourth down the Chiefs have to punt.

Big result for the Eagles defence.

  14. Chiefs ballpublished at 00:09 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Kansas City Chiefs 0-7 Philadelphia Eagles

Right, back with Patrick Mahomes, who this time has all kinds of time and is looking for a big play, but the Eagles have all his deep receivers covered so he hits JuJu Smith-Schuster over the middle for a short gain.

And after a Kareem Hunt run it's third down coming up...

  15. Eagles looking to channel their inner Rockypublished at 00:08 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

If the Eagles needed any more motivation they just had to look up to the big screen at the start of the Chiefs' first possession as they were showing a montage of Philadelphia's favourite son Rocky.

Nothing like a Rocky montage to get the adrenaline pumping.

The tush push is a very difficult play to stop, there's no way to simulate it in practice.

You are dealing with the biggest offensive line in Super Bowl history. It's a lot of weight pushing in one direction.

Guess what's just happened!? Yep - Eagles take the lead, one-yard touchdown for Jalen Hurts.

Everyone in the Superdome knew that was coming, the Chiefs knew that was coming, but just how do you stop that tush push play?

Philly have the heaviest offensive line in the league, and in Super Bowl history in fact, and when you can then push a big-bodied quarterback like Hurts from the other side, how do you stop it?

Some say the play should be banned....thoughts?

  18. No touchdownpublished at 00:04 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Right, the touchdown has been ruled out, but it's first and goal for the Eagles at the one-yard line.

One yard Jalen Hurts tush push touchdown coming up, surely?

  19. Or is it?published at 00:03 Greenwich Mean Time 10 February

Hang on, it looks like Dotson may be down about a yard from the end zone so this one may be coming back.

BUT, if they're at the one-yard line we all know what's coming....tush push anyone?
