Right fans, that was quite some evening wasn't it?

We had the Chiefs Kingdom crumbling but did we see the start of the Eagles Empire?

Jalen Hurts banished his demons from two years ago and the Philadelphia defence banished Patrick Mahomes with a truly dominant dismantling of the team that had won back-to-back Super Bowls and was chasing history.

That's a statement victory if ever there was one - and there's already talk of them being the next dominant force in the NFL.

But right now, as the confetti starts to get swept up from the Superdome pitch we'll end it there - and say thanks for joining us not only tonight but all through the play-offs.

So go to bed, get some rest and already start dreaming about next season, when we'll be back again for more live NFL coverage.

  2. 'I have to be better' - Mahomes shoulders blame for defeatpublished at 04:42 Greenwich Mean Time

Patrick Mahomes has spoken to the media for the first time since the final whistle:

"Credit to the Eagles they played better than us from start to finish.

"Obviously the turnovers hurt - I've just got to take all the blame for that. Those early turnovers swing the momentum of the game and they capitalised on them.

"It was kind of 14 points that I gave them and it's hard to come back from that at the Super Bowl.

"I just didn't play to my standard and I have to be better next time."

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman (left) is the man responsible for building this star-studded Philadelphia roster, through some astute draft picks, trades and some free agent pick-ups.

Headlined by Saquon Barkley who Roseman signed from the New York Giants - and what a deal that turned out to be!

  4. A dynasty defeatedpublished at 04:28 Greenwich Mean Time

They came expecting a gripping contest between the NFL's two best teams.

But President Trump, Taylor Swift and the rest left New Orleans wondering what had happened to two-time champion Kansas City Chiefs as they were steamrollered by the Philadelphia Eagles.

Inspired by quarterback Jalen Hurts and a bone-crunching defence, the Eagles left the Chiefs' dreams of an unprecedented 'three-peat' in ruins - and served notice on their plans to build their own kingdom at the top of the NFL.

We've been watching the Superbowl with the Manchester Titans women's American football team all night and they started to disappear in the final quarter of the match. The last person standing though was Kenya.

"This is the pinnacle of the whole sport - we wait our whole year for this. Be a part of the environment. Be a part of the atmosphere it's one night," she tells me when I ask her why she's stayed the whole night.

"Everyone got a bit fed up. We all knew what the score was going to be when the first half ended. The Chiefs still weren't doing anything. It was a done deal from there."

"I've got work at 9am but it's worth staying up for. My managers are in America though so hopefully they won't see this."

Good luck to Kenya and everyone else who's got work tomo... today.

Kenya has dreadlocks and wears a Mercedes F1 cap. She's wearing a light hoodie covered by a denim jacket.

Make no mistake, this was a beatdown of epic proportions and from being on the verge of history the Kansas City Chiefs now look in tatters.

It's not the first time though, as they suffered a 31-9 hammering by Tom Brady's Tampa Bay in the 2021 Super Bowl - that's a worry, but their response from that will be a comfort.

As although the Chiefs came up a game short of the Super Bowl the year after that heavy loss, they then won back-to-back titles and made the big game again this year.

So maybe not all is lost?

Just in case Jalen Hurts needed anything else to smile about, his 72 rushing yards set a new record for quarterbacks in a Super Bowl.

He broke the previous best of 70 yards set in Super Bowl 57 by someone called Jalen Hurts - yep, the guy's pretty good....

"There isn't a more deserving group than our group, the guys give everything. We kept working and kept our heads down. We love our coach, we rally around him. We love to work every day.

"Shout-out to [defensive coordinator] Vic Fangio - he's old as hell but man he's got knowledge!"

There is a really bright future at the Eagles.

Their last two years of draft picks really came through - Jalen Carter, Nolan Smith, Cooper DeJean.

The young stars of the Eagles are all deserving of a strong mention after that strong performance.

"Defence wins championships. We saw the difference they made in the game today.

Hunger. You saw from the opening snap a real purpose about the Eagles.

Conversely maybe the occasion, the storylines or perhaps even the Chiefs' own fatigue of going to the Super Bowl three times in a row, meant they just ran out of steam.

The Philadelphia Eagles are the first team to put up 40 or more points in the Super Bowl since... the Philadelphia Eagles.

In 2018, the Eagles beat the New England Patriots 41-33 in Minnesota, denying Tom Brady a second straight win.

Tonight, they've gone one further in denying Patrick Mahomes his third.

One of the least competitive Super Bowls in years.

Usually at half-time, it's still close enough for you to see it for the team that is losing.

The nature of the blowout and the second time the Chiefs have been really non-competitive in a Super Bowl.

    It just wasn't their night.

Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni speaking to Fox:

"Thanks to God. He gave us all the talents to be here.

"This is the ultimate team game, you can't be great without the greatness of others.

"Our coaching staff, these great players. We didn't care what others thought about how we win, we just wanted to win.

"These guys did not want to let each other down. In the meeting yesterday they said they did not want this to be over without a ring and a parade."
