    Another false start!

Oliwer Wdowik's block slipped and he was left behind.

The rest of the field was halfway up the track again. Some of these 100m sprinters will have run 400m by the time we are done...

A cracking run by Olympic champion Lamont Marcell Jacobs, he wins his semi-final in 10.05 seconds.

Pablo Mateo of France goes through in second, while there is disappointment for CJ Ujah.

After a strong start he went backwards in the final 50m, finishing fifth. His medal hopes are over, Ujah will not be in the final.

    Men's 100m semi-finals

An intriguing third men's 100m semi-final coming up now.

What can home favourite Lamont Marcell Jacobs produce this evening in Rome? And can CJ Ujah make a statement after winning his heat yesterday on his return to major international competition?

Italian Jacobs brought his season's best down to 10.03 seconds in May, but he has not gone below 10:00 since winning European gold two years ago.

Ujah told BBC Sport yesterday that he hopes to "fight my way back to the top" following a 22-month ban - for which he was cleared of intentionally breaking the rules - and this will be a good measure of his progress to date.

Miltiadis Tentoglou's reign of long jump dominance continues.

    Men's shot put final

    Jazmin Sawyers
European indoor long jump champion on BBC iPlayer

You go back to basics (after a mediocre first round). How do I jump far rather than trying to jump far or throw far. Just think exactly how. How do I need to move my legs, move my arms, where do I need to position my body. Focus on that.

That’s how I approach the second round. If I still need it on the third round, then you just go all out.

Ok, we are jumping to the second semi in the men's 100m before the first. Gives everyone in that chaotic first race a chance to cool down.

We could have another Italian winner here - Chituru Ali is, on paper, the fastest man in this field.
