Alison Merrien makes Champion of Champions play-off

Merrien was level on points with Australia's Riina Bradbrook

Guernsey's Alison Merrien has made it through to the play-offs for a semi-final place in the World Champion of Champions bowls in Hong Kong.

Merrien beat Japan's Nanami Yoshi 11-2 11-6 and Macao's Pian Lai 8-5 7-1 on Friday to come third in her group.

She will now play Scotland's Caroline Brown, who beat her on Thursday, for a place in the last four.

Merrien, who won the title in 2007, edged out Australia's Riina Bradbrook on shots difference.
