Brook drops Jaiswal at second slip as ball runs away for four

Ohhhh. A life for India opener Yashasvi Jaiswal.

Harry Brook, at second slip, gets two hands to the ball but can only parry it away to the rope. It was above head height but it was a chance.

We were wondering if this pitch would die down at the start of day two but it has definitely been lively today.

In the first innings Gus Atkinson only conceded one boundary and he has now conceded three in one over in this innings.

  6. Ind 12-0published at 3 overs

Yashasvi Jaiswal has taken a chunk out of England's meagre lead.

Three boundaries off the over - a lovely drive, a streaky edge, and big old crunch through point.

    India trail by 11 runs.

  7. Ind 4-0published at 2.1 overs

And there are the first runs of India's second innings, Yashasvi Jaiswal guiding the ball back past bowler Gus Atkinson for four.

India will feel they will want to take a bit of initiative here and not let the bowlers dictate terms.

India have done fantastically well to bowl England out today and not concede too much of a lead. Although it appears to have moved lavishly today, there has been far less movement both in the air and off the pitch today.

    • Day 1: 1.5° swing | 0.7° seam
    • Day 2: 1.1° swing | 0.6° seam

What India did brilliantly was hit a good line and length, 43% compared to England’s 36%. So although they had the less favourable bowling conditions, their relentlessness with the ball has kept them in the contest.

  10. Ind 0-0published at 2 overs

Josh Tongue crumples his face in pained disbelief as KL Rahul lets the ball whistle over his stumps. Rahul is unruffled.

    M is for maiden.

I think Yashasvi Jaiswal saw the way Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley opened today and wants to take a leaf out of their book.

  12. Ind 0-0published at 1 over

A maiden to start from Gus Atkinson. He's getting a lot of bounce out of the surface.

Here comes Josh Tongue. Strap in.

  13. Ind 0-0published at 0.1 overs

Wow. Yashasvi Jaiswal comes straight out with a monstrous smash and only an eye-catching one-handed diving stop from Ben Duckett at gully prevents a boundary. This could be a fun 90 minutes or so.

Nunya: It's India's game to lose now. England let them back into this Test, especially being at 92-1 and they didn't capitalise on such a rapid start.

It's handy again for England. They've taken a bit out of that session. You only have the three seamers and they'll be doing the bulk of the bowling tonight.

You'll say, 'Come on lads, you can put your feet up in an hour and a half. Give it everything'.

Really don’t think this is a bad thing. We weren’t scoring quickly and we now get a decent spell to bowl at them in tough conditions. Can we make the most of it without Woakes though?
