That was Josh Tongue's seventh over. It will probably be his last.

There was an lbw decision turned down.

They're showing replay after replay of the dropped catch. Those in the crowd had their heads in their hands.

It's bad enough fielding as 12th man and then to make an impact like that. He was in the perfect place and position. It's definitely gone into the floodlights. Is there any reason for them to be on?

A sitter! Liam Dawson has put down Yashasvi Jaiswal after the India opener swung a pull to fine leg.

Dawson is saying he didn't see it. He got his hands there.

  6. Ind 55-1published at 13 overs

    Jaiswal 40, Sudharsan 7

Jamie Overton switches to round the wicket but the ball thuds into the middle of Sai Sudharsan's bat.

Brendon McCullum is applauding and gesturing from the England balcony. You rarely see him too involved.

This is the first game in the series where KL Rahul has not reached 50 runs in either innings.

  8. Ind 55-1published at 12 overs

    Lead by 32

This is a better over for India as Sai Sudharsan tucks one fine for four and then runs well to add another couple. Liam Dawson is on the field for the injured Chris Woakes. England could really miss their all-rounder tomorrow.

A brilliant start to the innings with the ball for Tongue, who has been relentless with his line and length and been rewarded with the wicket of KL Rahul.

He has hit a good line with 2/3 of deliveries in this spell, far higher than his first spell yesterday which was far more wayward.

  12. Ind 47-1published at 11 overs

    Jaiswal 39, Sudharsan 0

Sai Sudharsan is doing that thing where he shapes a defensive shot to every ball but realistically is not playing it at all. He's just tucking his bat in and letting the ball go by.

The players are going to have a quick drink.

That was a nothing shot from Rahul. The ball wasn't as good as I thought in real time. It was a comfortable leave, for whatever reason he's tried to fiddle with it. It's unusual to see from Rahul.

England have a spring in their step in the evening sunshine as Sai Sudharsan defends his first ball. Remember play can go until 19:30 BST because of the rain.

Tongue has bowled so much better here. A lot more control, and asked so many questions of this opening India partnership.

This game is moving forward at a rate of knots. There's no reason why England cant pick up two or three more wickets tonight.

Jaiswal is key. England will be desperate to get him out.

Breakthrough! Josh Tongue gets the wicket he has deserved for this spell.

KL Rahul stays a bit too leg side of the ball and when he pokes outside off stump he only manages to steer the ball to Joe Root, wearing his Graham Thorpe headband, at first slip.

  18. Ind 46-0published at 9.4 overs

Four more off the bat of Yashasvi Jaiswal. This is hurting England.

Again the left-hander plays the cut shot while in mid-air but he manages to keep it down.

KL Rahul looks set for a long stretch. He wants to play a long innings. But Yashasvi Jaiswal has that twitch and wants to take the bowlers on.
