That's your lot for tonight, folks, after a thumping England victory in Barbados.

Phil Salt's blistering century has put them 1-0 up in the five-match series.

You can read all about it in Matthew Henry's report here.

There's not much time for reflection for either side though before the second game of the series tomorrow night.

We'll be back for that one at 19:45 GMT, be sure to join us then. Goodnight!

  2. 'Fantastic performance'published at 00:22 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

England captain Jos Buttler: "Absolutely fantastic performance so I'm delighted for the guys. It started with the ball and taking early wickets, then a clinical partnership from Salt and Bethell."

On Phil Salt: "He's been outstanding and obviously likes playing against West Indies. In the last 12-18 months, he's taken his game to new heights and I'm sure he can go to other levels. He's getting what he deserves.

"We want players to express themselves. This is a great place to play and showcase your talents."

  3. Postpublished at 00:21 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

West Indies captain Rovman Powell: "Tonight it didn't really come off. Credit has to be given to the boys. We still managed to score 180. We talk about wickets in clusters. If you do that you will always struggle. It happened tonight and is for us as a batting group to fix that.

"We have highlighted the way we want to play. In the bad times we have to keep backing yourselves. It is unfortunate tonight it didn't work for us."

  4. 'The place I'm happiest'published at 00:16 Greenwich Mean Time 10 November

England opener Phil Salt: "I think this is probably the place I'm happiest. I enjoy batting here. I've grown up on these surfaces.

"I really enjoy playing the 50-over cricket but coming out here tonight, you have to adjust quickly. It's a completely different tempo. But I'm coping all right."

On Jacob Bethell: "He's a huge talent. He's a 21 year old lad but if you didn't know how old he was, you'd think he'd played 100 games already."

England's performance with the bat has certainly helped dull the memories of the frustrations from the back end of the West Indies innings.

The hosts were in big trouble at 117-8 but the tail wagged and got themselves up to 182-9.

Saqib Mahmood did take four wickets for England, though, with Adil Rashid impressive as ever in taking 3-32.

Barbados-born Jacob Bethell continues to impress early in his international career and it will surely have meant a great deal to him to get his maiden T20I half-century at the Kensington Oval.

The 21-year-old left-hander played his part brilliantly in an unbroken, match-winning stand of 107 with Phil Salt.

Phil Salt found that form in the last ODI where he had to show maturity on a difficult pitch and really build an innings.

You've got to take that form and he really brought it into today.

It was a remarkable run-chase, perfectly paced.

It was a brilliant T20 innings from Phil Salt. He's become such a mature T20 opener.

It's just brutal and the way he puts the bowlers under pressure.

    Eng 174-2

There's the century for Phil Salt! What a knock it has been from the England opener!

He clubs the ball to long on and a misfield sees the ball reach the boundary.

A 53-ball ton for Salt to take England to the brink of victory.

    Eng 166-2

A maiden T20I fifty for Jacob Bethell! Fittingly it comes on the island of his birth.

He miscues the ball high into the leg side but it lands safely and Bethell, at 21 years and 17 days, becomes England youngest player to make a half-century in this format.

It comes up from 33 balls and the left-hander continues to show why England rate him so highly.

It's a filthy drag-down from Shamar Joseph and Bethell pulls it high over long leg for six to move to 49.

Well, that just about sums it up for West Indies at the moment.

A comical misfield for Rovman Powell as the ball spins past him to start with, he trots after it but as he bends down to pick it up, he fumbles it again and suddenly has to break into a run to prevent the boundary.

So, instead of a dot ball, England run three.
