    Missing!

    The home crowd cheers.

It would have turned to miss leg stump and Akeal Hosein survives.

If anything this has turned too much.

    Hosein has not hit it...

    Another?

Akeal Hosein is given lbw, having been bamboozled by Adil Rashid.

It looked straight but he reviews...

It's always best to be certain but some times it’s a bit silly checking. That Buttler catch was good and clean and aside from one missed chance England have looked sharp.

  5. WI 117-7published at 14 overs

    Shepherd 6, Hosein 2

The action continues as Romario Shepherd spoils Jamie Overton's over a little by flicking a four off his hip.

England will still be hoping to restrict West Indies big time here with Andre Russell and Nicholas Pooran out.

Really enjoying this tonight - plenty going on and Andre Russell on his knees unable to comprehend being caught on the boundary had its own drama.

  7. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 13.2 overs

    Pooran c Buttler b Overton 38 (WI 110-7)

There's nothing wrong with that catch! England have the crucial wicket of Nicholas Pooran.

It was the England skipper Jos Buttler tumbling back to take the grab after another short ball from Jamie Overton.

    Excellent all-round from England.

  8. Umpire reviewpublished at 21:44 Greenwich Mean Time 9 November 2024

    Nicholas Pooran is out!

For all the world this looks a simple, chipped catch to extra cover but the West Indies batter is standing his ground.

The umpires are checking the catch...

  9. WI 109-6published at 13 overs

Romario Shepherd is more than handy as a number eight.

England aren't through the batting yet but they're going well.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 12.4 overs

    Russell c Mousley b Livingstone 30 (WI 108-6)

Livingstone strikes back! The Englishman punches the air while Andre Russell drops to his knees in dismay.

West Indies' big-hitting all-rounder has clubbed straight to the fielder in the deep in the off side.

    A big wicket for England.

But this one is out of the ground!

    Huuuge from Andre Russell.

  12. WI 102-5published at 12.1 overs

    A seventh bowler? Why not...

Liam Livingstone almost strikes with his first ball but somehow Andre Russell finds a gap with his high, miscued slog.

  13. WI 100-5published at 12 overs

    Pooran 38, Russell 22

Sam Curran's bowling may not be everyone's cup of tea but this is a superb over. He nails a yorker to finish, having zipped the previous delivery by Andre Russell's grille.

    Four from it.

  14. WI 96-5published at 11.2 overs

It's a good start from left-armer Curran with two slower balls outside off stump.

Jos Buttler turns to his sixth different bowler.

    Here's Sam Curran...

  16. 6 runs

    WI 96-5published at 11 overs

And Dre Russ follows that reprieve by launching two huge sixes!

    Will England rue that miss?

  17. WI 84-5published at 10.3 overs

Andre Russell almost falls to Adil Rashid for a fifth time!

The big all-rounder gets nowhere near middling a pull shot, skewing the ball awkwardly to mid-on. Michael Pepper, on the field for Reece Topley, can't quite sort his feet out and only gets a finger tip on the ball.

Russell v Rashid is fascinating here. He's been dismissed four times v the English spinner, averaging just 11 - and striking at less than 90. Not many can tame the big finisher, but Rashid has in the past.

  19. 6 runs

    WI 80-5published at 10 overs

    Pooran 34, Russell 8

Andre Russell has wisely put on a helmet now with Jamie Overton banging it in short at decent pace.

Russell ducks one but smashes the next a mile back towards the scoreboard.

England may be on top but they won't be comfortable until these two are out.

  20. WI 71-5published at 9 overs

    Pooran 32, Russell 1

Andre Russell has wandered out without a helmet - his blonde mohawk on show.

    England are well on top.
