Well, West Indies have managed to slow England down after their rapid start. But Phil Salt is still there.

That catch from Gudakesh Motie really was quite something and Jos Buttler's reaction said it all. The England skipper could only smile and give a slight shake of the head.

On another day Motie just waves at that as the ball sails over the rope for six.

It’s been that sort of a game. That stunning, amazing catch to remove Buttler on his return was bad news for England obviously but it’s another unexpected moment in an eventful game.

Oh my word - what a catch!

Jos Buttler goes first ball after a stunning one-handed grab by Gudakesh Motie.

Width from Romario Shepherd, Buttler throws the bat at it and a thick edge flies down to deep third.

Motie looks to have completely misjudged it but then sticks out his left hand as the ball seems set to sail over his head and plucks the ball from the air.

    Wow.

Brilliant powerplay for England but it ends with a wicket.

Three sixes in the over but Gudakesh Motie hits back with the last ball, bowling Will Jacks as the England opener tried to sweep.

The ball perhaps wasn't quite there for the shot and skids through to hit off stump.

Will Jacks gets in on the act!

Tossed up and he hammers it back over long on for another maximum.

Kensington Oval, Barbados, first hosted a T20I in 2008. Phil Salt first played here in 2022, and only three players have more T20I runs on this ground than him.

    Wowzers!

Phil Salt goes to his half-century but charging Gudakesh Motie and marmalising the ball over deep mid-wicket.

That is a brutal stroke and takes him to a 25-ball fifty.

One quiet over but Phil Salt is back on it - and that's a remarkable shot.

Gudakesh Motie into the attack, bowls his first ball into the pitch but Phil rocks back and clobbers the ball back over the bowler's head for six!

Full credit Hosein, brilliant work in the powerplay. But he needs some backing up here.

First saw Will Jacks in The Hundred a couple of years ago and thought he looked a special talent. Definite England material. Two years on feels like he needs to start delivering more consistently now, though. Hopefully from today.

After such a good start, the last thing England want is a run out.

Phil Salt calls for a single after punching the ball into the covers but Will Jacks sends him back, with Salt diving to make his ground.

    Is there ever a situation where a run out isn't "the last thing X, Y, Z want/need"?

Anyway, it's a fantastic set from Akeal Hosein with just two from it and Salt very nearly chipping the last ball to extra cover.

Since starting their partnership for Pretoria Capitals in the SA20, Will Jacks and Phil Salt score at 10.7rpo when batting together in T20s - only two pairs (min 20 innings) score quicker in the history of this format.

    Just brilliant from Phil Salt.

After the six, he clatters four fours in a row to end the Shamar Joseph over and bring up the fifty partnership in no time.

He clubs a couple over the off side but the pick of them is a glorious straight drive, all along the ground, to what was, frankly, a pretty good delivery.

    Six more!

Banged in back of a length by Shamar Joseph, Phil Salt turns on it and nails it over deep backward square.

Followed up with a one-bounce four. A touch of width, a thick outside edge sends the ball high over backward point and it bounces half a yard shy of the cushion.

Superb over from Akeal Hosein with his slow left-arm in-duckers... right up until the last ball.

Having got his length spot on for the first five, Hosein drops the last a touch short and Phil Salt is onto it.

The England opener goes back and, while he doesn't get all of it, the connection is good enough to send the ball over the head of the long-on fielder.

    Shot!

Cross-seam delivery from Andre Russell but too wide and Will Jacks throws the kitchen sink at it to clear the cover boundary.

The first six of the England innings. It's safe to assume that it won't be the last.

  19. Eng 12-0published at 1.3 overs

    Target 183

Phil Salt is chancing his arm early in this chase - given the target, you can't blame him - and gets some good fortune two balls running.

Firstly a leading edge off Andre Russell loops up over mid-on and he runs two, then he slices the ball high into the off side next ball.

The wind takes it just out of Sherfane Rutherford's reach and the fielder ends up nearly kicking the ball to the boundary, only for some far better footwork to help him to keep it to three.

  20. Eng 6-0published at 1 over

    Target 183

Walloped back down the ground by Phil Salt for the first boundary of the chase.

Rovman Powell got round from long on but there was too much on the shot from Salt and it goes through the West Indies fielder into the boundary cushion.
