  1. 150 runs

    Eng 151-2published at 14.2 overs

    Need 32 from 34 balls

West Indies successfully manage to get the ball changed but it is unlikely to make any difference now.

Jacob Bethell works the first delivery from the changed ball into the leg side, gets back for two and takes England past 150.

  2. Eng 149-2published at 14.1 overs

    Need 34 from 35 balls

Full toss outside off stump and Jacob Bethell sends the ball to the boundary.

More off the edge than he'd have wanted but that ball from Gudakesh Motie got exactly what it deserved.

  3. Eng 145-2published at 14 overs

    Need 38 from 36 balls

Little more than a run-a-ball needed for England now.

With eight wickets in hand as well, they're surely closing in on a record-breaking T20I chase at Kensington Oval.

Phil Salt has 564 T20I runs in the West Indies - the most any away player has in any country.

  5. dropped catch

Salt dropped on 86published at 13.4 overs

    Eng 143-2

Six more for Phil Salt - but he should really be out.

Short from Romario Shepherd and Salt swivels to pull it away towards deep backward square.

Sherfane Rutherford is out there and tries to catch it above his head but the ball bursts through his hands.

    Massive let off for Salt.

  6. Eng 136-2published at 13.2 overs

    Need 47 from 40 balls

A misfield allows Jacob Bethell to get two from the first ball of Romario Shepherd's over and he thumps the next ball over cover for four.

As much as the game situation, the big concern for West Indies will be that Andre Russell has just walked gingerly from the field, headed for the dressing room.

  7. Eng 130-2published at 13 overs

    Need 53 from 42 balls

Jacob Bethell lets out a big laugh after getting a bit of luck.

He's outfoxed by Gudakesh Motie, who spotted him coming and fired in a quicker ball.

Bethell stuck the bat out, though, and an outside edge takes the ball fine to the boundary cushion.

Still only six from the over, a better one for the West Indies.

  9. Eng 124-2published at 12 overs

    Salt 85, Bethell 19

Another ball drifting down leg and again Phil Salt is only too happy to punish it.

This time it's just a gentle flick, diverting the ball wide of the fielder at short fine leg and away for four.

It's 14 from the Andre Russell over as England kick on again.

  10. 6 runs

    Eng 117-2published at 11.3 overs

    Target 183

    A freebie from Andre Russell.

The big all-rounder offers up a slow full toss down the leg side and Phil Salt gleefully whips it over fine leg for six!

  11. Eng 110-2published at 11 overs

    Target 183

Akeal Hosein was the one West Indies bowler who didn't go the distance in the powerplay and he's back to complete his four-over set.

Once again he's able to restrict England with just four singles from the over as Hosein finishes with figures of 0-20.

Phil Salt has 72 runs after 10 overs. Only twice has he scored more runs at this stage of a T20 innings, including once for England when he managed 74 against Pakistan in Lahore.

West Indies finished strongly in their innings but, even so, England look well ahead of the game at this stage...

  14. Eng 106-2published at 10 overs

Need 77 more to win from 60 balls

Beautifully guided between short third and backward point by Jacob Bethell as he latches onto a slower ball from Romario Shepherd.

England's 100 came up a couple of balls previous as Phil Salt clipped into the leg side for two.

Halfway through the chase and the tourists look well placed in this series opener at the Kensington Oval.

  15. Eng 97-2published at 9.1 overs

    Target 183

    Superb from Jacob Bethell.

An attempted yorker from Romario Shepherd, he misses by an inch or two and the England left-hander drills the ball back past him for four.

England all out for 138. Usual collapse imminent.

  17. Eng 93-2published at 9 overs

    Target 183

Bludgeoned over mid-wicket by Phil Salt.

Four more to his total, he's up to 69 from 35 balls with Jacob Bethell alongside him and just getting himself set.

  19. Eng 84-2published at 8 overs

    Target 183

Shamar Joseph returns after being taken apart by Phil Salt during the powerplay.

The Windies fast bowler gets through five balls for the cost of just three runs but Salt ends the over with a boundary.

He gives himself a bit of room and guides a ball that was on a middle stump line through the gully region for four. Lovely shot.

I used to bat with a guy called Nick in the Hampshire league. Most cautious batsman you’ve ever seen. More often, when he was batting, a run out was exactly what our team needed.
