Summary

  1. Gus Atkinson, though, did get a wicket...published at 18:46 British Summer Time 27 July

Here is his dismissal of Kirk McKenzie for your enjoyment.

  2. WI 30-2published at 2 overs

Superb over from Mark Wood. Close LBW shout; almost a run-out; a gloved short ball that could have gone anywhere; and a couple of beauties that whistled past Mikyle Louis's outside edge at 92mph.

The only thing missing? Yep, you got it.

  3. Postpublished at 18:43 British Summer Time 27 July

Leg slip is in. England want a third tonight.

He is a lucky man, but that's not a bad decision. It takes a brave umpire to give that out.

  5. Not outpublished at 11.1 overs

So close. Umpire's call. Clipping leg but not enough for three reds. Review retained.

  6. Postpublished at 18:40 British Summer Time 27 July

No bat involved. Ball tracking please...

Mikyle Louis ends up on the floor as Mark Wood fires a full, straight ball into his pads. Ben Stokes dramatically signals for a TV review.

  8. A rare moment that proves Ben Stokes is human...published at 18:39 British Summer Time 27 July

You don't have to like this one, folks.

  9. WI 27-2published at 11 overs

Just the single off that Bashir over.

  10. WI 26-2published at 10 overs

Wood gets a fist bump from his Durham team-mate Ben Stokes. A decent over.

  11. WI 26-2published at 9.2 overs

Mark Wood, who has history in this field, attempts to boot the ball at the stumps. He was about 20 yards away. That could have caused serious damage.

Wood loves to scream the name of Newcastle United players when playing football. This was a bit like the effort of a young Haris Vuckic, who hit the bar from near the half-way line against West Brom a decade or so back. No one expected it.

  12. Postpublished at 18:32 British Summer Time 27 July

Life is coming hard (and fast) at the West Indies right now. Mark Wood is about to bowl.

  13. WI 25-2published at 9 overs

Direct hit would have been very close. Mikyle Louis was just about ok. Risky single, though.

  14. WI 24-2published at 8.5 overs

Ollie Pope, under the helmet at short leg, is very much in the game here. Mikyle Louis needs to stick his hands in a pot of moisturiser. They look very hard right now.

  15. Postpublished at 18:28 British Summer Time 27 July

Shoaib Bashir time. Now with ball in hand. Good move from Ben Stokes this. The odd ball started to turn this afternoon.

  16. WI 24-2published at 8 overs

Might be the end of Gus Atkinson for tonight, that. Well bowled.

  17. WI 23-2published at 7 overs

The eagle-eyed amongst you will have noted we've now passed the scheduled close time (18:21 BST). We're into the extra half hour. Not quite the last half hour...I don't think.

  18. Any Chris Woakes fans out there, per chance?published at 18:22 British Summer Time 27 July

If so, please watch this video and like this post. Regards. Sam.

  19. WI 23-2published at 6 overs

England strapped firmly into both the driving and passenger seat now.

What a difference a day makes. Humour me folks and cast your minds back to this time yesterday - give or take a few minutes, England had just slipped to 31-3, a whole 251 runs behind. The picture looks markedly different now.

It has been a pretty poor series for McKenzie.

That is a pretty good ball, you know. There was a plenty of zip in the delivery and a little bit of movement - it's not the worse dismissal as a batter.

Atkinson continues to impress. It was a serious delivery.
