A brilliant knock from Zak Crawley and what a strike that is. He was predicting a bouncer the next ball but Overton produced the off-cutter instead.

Spirit have a great captain in Kane Williamson to try and come up with some ideas now but it is looking ominous.

    Flies away!

Zak Crawley whips Jamie Overton away for six over mid-wicket.

Off the toes and into the stands.

With these two batters in who have so much experience, I'm not sure there is much hope for the Spirit.

Crawley is really taking Gleeson on, he is charging down the ground.

  4. Superchargers 89-1published at 35 balls left

    47 runs needed

Zak Crawley lifts Richard Gleeson towards mid-off - is it going to clear Kane Williamson?

    Yes, just.

    The batters run two.

Zak Crawley has scored only 31 runs off 26 deliveries off the spinners in this year's Hundred, a strike rate of just 119, down from 172 when facing the quicks.

Luke Wood is trying to keep the ball away from that short boundary. Sometimes batters and bowlers can get obsessed with protecting it.

After rocketing at the beginning, Crawley is a lot more sedate now.

  7. Superchargers 82-1published at 40 balls left

    54 runs needed

Zak Crawley goes to slog sweep Luke Wood and sees the ball skew up into the air at third... lands safe.

Wood then gets called for a wide on the off side which shouldn't have been given, and Dan Lawrence takes advantage from the extra ball, sending a two-bounce four onto the cover ropes.

Wood not best pleased, it's safe to say.

  8. Superchargers 72-1published at 45 balls left

    64 runs needed

Liam Dawson continues to bowl tidily - he concedes four singles and has gone for just 0-13 from his 15 balls so far.

Still, as I said when he last bowled - and I'm not targeting him specifically - Superchargers really do need a few more wickets if they're going to make this competitive.

As it stands, there's plenty of batting to come for an acceleration over the line by the visitors.

Jamie Overton is bowling to the long boundary nicely. He is very two-paced, not always on purpose at times.

He is a very tall man and can bowl a very quick ball.

  10. Superchargers 68-1published at 50 balls left

    68 runs runs needed

Jamie Overton continues, bowling to new batter Dan Lawrence.

The Superchargers batter sends his first ball to third for two.

Three singles take us up to the half way stage, and the visitors are exactly half way to their target.

A bizarre dismissal. Malan was trying to go over the short side but can only tink it to the fielder. It's a great delivery from Jamie Overton.

Malan's flow was interrupted in that break and that totally put him off.

    Malan c Turner b Overton 22 (Superchargers 63-1)

Well, that new bat did a fat lot of good.

First ball with the new willow and David Malan, going for a pull shot off Jamie Overton, balloons the ball up to Ashton Turner at mid-on.

Perhaps Malan's concentration was broken - the opening partnership certainly has been.

A quick delivery from Jamie Overton.

That pull shot is one of Crawley's strengths, but thankfully he didn't get enough on it for it to carry to deep square.

  14. Superchargers 63-0published at 56 balls left

    73 runs needed

Jamie Overton on now, and he fires his first delivery down the leg side for four byes.

The pressure from Liam Dawson's 10 deliveries dissipates a little.

Crawley then pulls aerially out to square, but the ball falls in front of the fielder.

We'll take a bit of a break before Jamie Overton's last ball while an array of bats is brought out of the pavilion for Dawid Malan.

  15. Superchargers 56-0published at 60 balls left

    80 runs needed

Only four runs off Dawson's second set too.

Still, it's wickets Spirit need to deal in now.

There's a hint of one here when Jamie Smith fumbles a collection behind the stumps - he might had a small chance of stumping Zak Crawley, albeit the opening got back reasonably quickly.

Liam Dawson is a very economical bowler.

He has that control of pace, from quick to slow. It is hard to pick up in his action because his arm stays the same pace. He thinks like a batter and is always one step ahead.

  17. Superchargers 52-0published at 65 balls left

    84 runs needed

A first sight of spin as Liam Dawson comes on to bowl.

A Dawid Malan two out to backward point brings up the fifty partnership.

Five runs off the set - Dawson is going to send down another set.

Crawley and Malan are two excellent performers. They are two confident batters going about their work nicely.

The lights are certainly making the difference on this wicket.

  19. Superchargers 47-0published at 70 balls left

    89 runs needed

Richard Gleeson tightens the tap a little out of the powerplay.

His first set goes for just three singles.

Kane Williamson will be scratching his head to see what he can do to get a breakthrough.

Northern Superchargers have made it look like a different wicket and they are putting the pressure on.
