This is the third time this season Northern Superchargers have survived the powerplay without losing a wicket - they had only managed this five times in the four previous seasons of the Hundred.

  2. Superchargers 44-0published at 75 balls left

    92 runs needed

Dawid Malan endures three dot balls - taking a big swing at Worrall and also getting sent back to his crease by Zak Crawley.

He adds three from the final ball of the set, poking the ball through third.

That's the end of a decent powerplay for Superchargers.

That is an absolutely cracking shot. That has definitely gone all the way unless my eyes are deceiving me.

Superchargers 41-0published at 79 balls left

    95 runs needed

    Launched!

Dawid Malan times Dan Worrall beautifully over the covers, dropping the ball just over the ropes.

    First six of the innings.

The Superchargers are making steady progress and there is still power to come in their line-up. A lot of bases covered.

They are well on top in this game so far.

  6. Superchargers 35-0published at 80 balls left

    101 runs needed

Dawid Malan finds three in the leg side off Luke Wood, with the ball slowing up as it approaches the rope.

He gets four from the following ball though, inside-edging through backward square and seeing the ball just about reach the boundary.

Zak Crawley is both the leading run scorer in the powerplay in the men's Hundred and the fastest scorer in this phase.

He's scored 114 runs off 61 deliveries at a strike rate of 186, while over one in three powerplay deliveries he's faced have gone for a boundary.

Dan Worrall is closing off the off-side boundary as that is where most of the fielders are. He is trying to get Malan to hit to that side.

He is giving a fair few extras away at the moment however and struggling to find his line.

  9. Superchargers 24-0published at 85 balls left

    112 runs needed

Dawid Malan didn't get to face any of the first 10 balls, but he fronts up to Dan Worrall now.

He struggles to Worrall away - not least because he can happily leave three wides that come down for the former Australia international, but also because he can't get a bat on the legitimate deliveries.

Malan finally gets off the mark from Worrall's last ball, sending it out to point for two.

  10. Superchargers 19-0published at 90 balls left

    117 runs needed

And another boundary for Zak Crawley!

He clips Luke Wood's opening delivery through mid-wicket.

The Spirit seamer almost has his revenge from the following ball, jagging between bat and body.

They would look good in any format of cricket you play - classic Crawley shots.

An expensive start for Dan Worrall and Spirit. But the exact start the Superchargers wanted.

They said they wanted to go hard in the powerplay and that's exactly what Zak Crawley has done.

  12. Superchargers 12-0published at 95 balls left

    124 runs needed

You don't bowl to Zak Crawley there! Or there! Or, indeed, there!

A trio of consecutive boundaries for Zak Crawley off Dan Worrall, with the Spirit seamer offering the England opener the chance to unfurl his trademark drives.

Two through the covers and one past mid-off in the middle.

Zak Crawley is out marking his guard, Dan Worrall is going to bowl the opening set of five deliveries.

Dawid Malan is at the non-striker's end.

Northern Superchargers all-rounder Mitchell Santner: "It is one of the shortest boundaries have played on here. It was a slightly slower wicket but we just had to be smart.

"The way we started with the ball was outstanding, which is important in this format. We will have to see what happens with the new ball and try to use that."

On the surface: "It's not a belter. We are still happy to restrict to 130 but if you keep trying to get boundaries it doesn't always work. The powerplay will be important again."

Adil Rashid not only varied his speed today but he also dropped his length considerably shorter than he has previously in this year's competition, dropping from an average of 4.7m in his last five games to 5.2m today.

    Thank you, Matthew.

    I have rejected my family.

All I know is the sweet embrace of The Hundred - I close my eyes and I see the light up bails.

I've seen more of my colleague Mike Peter than my own family during this tournament. Once again it's time for me to hand to him.

A tricky score to assess. Not a score that you'd think would be a match winner but the wicket looked very difficult at times to get your timing on. That was shown at the start with Jamie Smith and Kane Williamson's partnership. It depends how Spirit start with the ball. It'll be crucial to keep the Superchargers quiet in the powerplay.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that's not enough. You're welcome, as ever, to disagree with me. Most do.

  20. Interval - Spirit 135-3published at 100 balls

    Tough going.

The innings ends as it had been throughout the second half - Ollie Pope swinging hard but struggling to find the boundary.

It's clearly another tricky Lord's pitch but it doesn't feel enough.
