  1. Spirit 83-3published at 60 balls

Good from Adil Rashid who applies the squeeze. He hasn't taken too many wickets this year but rarely goes for many runs.

Luck on the side of Ashton Turner. He won't mind at all.

  3. Spirit 78-3published at 55 balls

One off the middle, one off the edge. Australian Ashton Turner has boundaries off his first two deliveries to an effective if fortuitous counter-punch.

Tom Lawes has got Kane Williamson and Jamie Smith now. Well held by Dan Lawrence out there.

  5. wicket

    Smith c Lawrence b Lawes 41 (Spirit 70-3)

Big wicket! The ball makes a lovely crack off Jamie Smith's bat but he has thumped it hard and flat to Dan Lawrence on the mid-wicket boundary.

Smith had looked a class above everyone else so far.

Some pretty good batting from Jamie Smith. The Superchargers will have been very happy to see the back of David Warner and Kane Williamson early. But I think it's maybe time they start to put their foot on the accelerator.

  7. Spirit 69-2published at 51 balls

Ollie Pope gets this one away - helped by a poor line from Tom Lawes. Whipped to the longer boundary.

  8. Spirit 65-2published at 50 balls

Ollie Pope is yet to find his stride but, with Jamie Smith going well, Spirit are still nicely placed at halfway.

  9. Spirit 60-2published at 45 balls

    Smith 38, Pope 8

England have an interesting selection decision to make over Jamie Smith in the next few weeks. He came in and did well as T20 opener earlier in the year when Phil Salt was at the IPL and then on paternity leave.

    Salt is back now, however.

It looks like Jamie Smith is purposely trying to target that shorter legside boundary. Found the gap with ease.

  11. Spirit 59-2published at 43 balls

Too short from Mitchell Santner and Jamie Smith takes advantage. He heaves four through mid-wicket.

Jamie Smith and Ollie Pope are starting to build a partnership here.

  13. Spirit 51-2published at 40 balls

Smiling with his England team-mates among the opposition, Ollie Pope tries a shot we saw a lot of in India last year - the reverse paddle over his head. He makes decent contact but the ball thuds into the helmet of the wicketkeeper.

It's Adil Rashid who Pope is targeting but the England bowler concedes only four.

Matthew Potts in the powerplay in The Hundred

    • 2021-24: 2 wickets @ 86.0
    • 2025: 4 wickets @ 21.0

Significant improvement in the wickets column from Potts in this year's competition.

  15. Spirit 47-2published at 35 balls

    Smith 31, Pope 3

Lord's is humming as ever, not really bursting into significant noise despite Jamie Smith cutting Mitch Santner for four. The Home of Cricket is pretty much full for this one.

This game feels even at the moment. Couple of wickets. Spirit were building that partnership but the dismissal of Kane Williamson probably just stalled their momentum.

New Zealand spinner Mitch Santner, who also played for Surrey this year, enters the attack.

  18. Spirit 39-2published at 30 balls

A wicket and five runs for Surrey's Tom Lawes in his first five balls.

Third Surrey player, Ollie Pope, joins Lawes and Jamie Smith in the middle.

Brilliant again from the Superchargers. You just got the feeling Kane Williamson was ticking and wanted to take them down. It's a quality catch from Zak Crawley. He's a brilliant fielder with bucket hands. Holds on very well.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 28 balls

    Williamson c Crawley b Lawes 10 (Spirit 37-2)

He may have dropped one in the fifth Test against India but Zak Crawley does not put many down. a top catch sees the back of Kane Williamson.

The former New Zealand was aiming for somewhere in the grandstand but only managed to sky the ball to square leg. Crawley had to make a lot of ground coming in off the boundary but he gets there with a dive and clings on.
