  1. Champions Sussex move aheadpublished at 13:47 British Summer Time

    Sussex 280-4 v Middlesex 271

James Coles gets Sussex in front with a bit of flair!

He's back and across to Luke Hollman, pulling the spinner flat over square leg and he gets another six with a similar shot, albeit smashing the ball higher in the air.

New balls, please. On no, scratch that. The ball has been recovered from the car park.

  2. wicket

WICKET Waite c Singh b Phillip 37published at 13:46 British Summer Time

    Worcs 180 & 133-7 v Lancs 177

Well that was entertaining while it lasted!

Matthew Waite looks to go again as he rocks back to Anderson Phillip.

But he plays across the line and it skews up to deep backward square where Harry Singh steadies himself and swallows the chance. A third for Phillip.

Logan van Beek got a rapid 48 in the first knock and is in.

    The Pears lead is 136.

  3. 50 runs

50 partnership for Waite and Hosepublished at 13:45 British Summer Time

    Worcs 180 & 133-6 v Lancs 177

Matthew Waite's counter-punch has accelerated this innings at quite a pace.

Adam Hose steers the ball through backward square leg to bring up the 50 partnership for the seventh wicket.

It's come off just 45 balls and Waite has 36 of them.

Hose then drives Will Williams straight down the ground for a crisp four.

  4. wicket

WICKET: Leaning c Minto b de Leede 84published at 13:44 British Summer Time

    Durham 360 v Kent 220-6

Jack Leaning had looked nailed on for a century, but the Kent batter misses out.

He hooks a short ball from Bas de Leede, gets right underneath it and James Minto, running around from deep square leg, judges the catch nicely.

  5. dropped catch

Dropped catchpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time

    Worcs 180 & 126-6 v Lancs 177

Anderson Phillip has bowled very well in this second innings, but Matthew Waite doesn't care about what has gone before.

The Trinidadian's first ball is met with a lovely lofted drive over long on for four.

Waite then gets a lifeline as he miscues the third ball towards mid-on. Tom Bailey, running back, gets a hand to it but can't hang on. A single moves Waite to 35 off 24.

The lead is all of a sudden up to 129.

  6. wicket

    WICKET: Denly c & b Parkinson 63published at 13:38 British Summer Time

    Durham 360 v Kent 220-5

Callum Parkinson dropped Joe Denly this morning - but the left-arm spinner makes no mistake this time, off his own bowling as Denly drives straight back to him for a simple return catch.

Exaggerated - and probably ironic - celebrations from the bowler as Denly departs, to be replaced by Joey Evison.

  7. wicket

WICKET Wharton c Broad b Singh 285published at 13:36 British Summer Time

    Yorks 586-4 v Northants 147

    And now he's out.

Joint eighth highest individual scorer in any innings for Yorkshire.

James Wharton is back and across to Fateh Singh to try and smash the spinner over long on and he's been caught in the deep by Justin Broad.

Yorkshire captain Jonathan Tattersall is in next. But for how long?

  8. new ball

New ball is takenpublished at 13:36 British Summer Time

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 280-5

Notts skipper Haseeb Hameed opts not to take the new ball and sticks with the spin of Freddie McCann.

    He perhaps wishes he hadn't.

Michael Burgess helps the first ball for four then heaves his first six.

The fifth ball is then dispatched backward of square leg for another boundary.

Farhan Ahmed's 25th over costs a relatively miserly four and Hameed calls for the new ball.

  9. 6 runs

Wharton closes in on 300published at 13:35 British Summer Time

    Yorks 586-3 v Northants 147

Yorkshire are perhaps raising an eyebrow or two among the faithful by batting on but there's plenty of entertainment.

James Wharton is back and across to Saif Zaib, smashing the left-arm spinner over mid wicket for six and he gets six more next ball, driving over long on.

    He's on 285.

  10. 6 runs

Simpson celebratespublished at 13:32 British Summer Time

    Sussex 262-4 v Middlesex 271

Celebrations for Sussex and for John Simpson, who drives Ethan Bamber through cover point for four runs and gets a six, going back and across to pull the bowler over deep square leg.

  11. Waite on the charge againpublished at 13:31 British Summer Time

    Worcs 180 & 113-6 v Lancs 177

Adam Hose looks to punch through the covers, but it ricochets off the inner half of the bat through the leg side. A single moves him to 25.

Matthew Waite picks up a single from a quiet Will Williams over.

Waite then leans into a fullish ball from Anderson Phillip and sends it through extra cover. The next ball is thwacked over mid-off for back-to-back boundaries.

He almost falls next ball, but then hooks backward of square and just clears the rope for a first six of the innings.

Four leg byes from the fifth and Waite then goes expansive to the final ball, getting a top edge from an attempted pull for four more. 24 from the over. and Waite is up to 29 from 18 balls.

The middle order batter plundered four sixes in his first innings 60 and is ticking again.

  12. wicket

WICKET: Lawrence lbw b Snater 27published at 13:31 British Summer Time

    Essex 508-8 dec v Surrey 156-5

There's to be no big score for Dan Lawrence against his former team-mates.

Lawrence walks across a ball from Shane Snater that strikes him on the back leg. He's bang in front and that's an easy decision for the umpire.

Josh Blake is in next to join Dom Sibley.

  13. KENT AVOID FOLLOW-ONpublished at 13:28 British Summer Time

    Durham 360 v Kent 212-4

Joe Denly slams Bas de Leede to the cover boundary and that stroke ensures Kent cannot be asked to follow on by their hosts, effectively ensuring they will finish the season with a draw.

Would have been interesting to see how things might have unfolded had the first two days not been lost to the weather...

Now it's all about going big for Denly, who has 58 and Jack Leaning, on 83.

  14. Play resumes at Headingleypublished at 13:28 British Summer Time

    Yorks 559-3 v Northants 147

Now that the Division Two title has all but been decided down in Hove, Yorkshire's team need to decide if they want to go for a sixth win of the season or chase more batting records.

As it stands, James Wharton will face the first ball on 268 not out, to be bowled by Saif Zaib.

Jonny Bairstow has the small matter of 65 off 69 balls at the other end.

It's a bit gloomy out here and the floodlights are on.

"Never has a no-ball received so much applause.

John Simpson plays Luke Hollman into the covers. No run.

The second ball is a full toss and pulled through leg for four!

    One more for the title!

Simpson tries to tuck the ball through backward square but there's no single there.

What? A no-ball from Luke Hollman decides the Division Two trophy.

Well, this isn't how we might have envisaged it.

    Congratulations, Sussex.

  18. Handshakes duepublished at 13:19 British Summer Time

    Durham 360 v Kent 200-4

    Martin Emmerson
    BBC Radio Newcastle

There's been little to talk about on the final day of this curtailed match in Chester-le-Street.

The only wicket to fall was that of night watchman Jas Singh, in the second over of the day. He was caught behind off Bas De Leede for one.

But since then Jack Leaning and Joe Denly have put together a solid and methodical partnership of 100 in 184 balls. Leaning has 78 and Denly 51, although he was dropped at long leg by Callum Parkinson, off teenager James Minto, when on 45.

As things stand we could see the sides shaking hands on a draw at 16:10 BST. But in order for that to happen Kent would still need to be behind. Which would make for a very dull afternoon.

They could shake at 16:20 with Durham batting and ahead. Or at 16:30 when the final hour of the season gets under way.

  19. Afternoon session under way at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:19 British Summer Time

    Essex 508-8 dec v Surrey 144-4

Shane Snater is handed the ball for the first time today and the opening delivery of the afternoon session prompts a nibble outside off stump from Dan Lawrence.

Lawrence would presumably love to post a sizeable score, on his return to the familiar Chelmsford turf, and he drives another ball back at Snater, catching the bowler with a blow on the hand as he picks up a couple of runs.

  20. wicket

WICKET Barnard c sub b Ahmed 81published at 13:18 British Summer Time

    Notts 487 v Warwickshire 255-5

Farhan Ahmed celebrates taking wicketImage source, Rex Features

Ed Barnard takes a single off the final ball of the over to bring up the 150 partnership with Sam Hain.

Then he's gone to the next ball!

He looks to sweep Farhan Ahmed, but gets a top edge which is pouched down at long leg by the sub fielder. A third wicket for the teen spinner.

Surely far too late for any fireworks as Michael Burgess joins Hain.
