  1. wicket

    WICKET Reece b Hudson-Prentice 50published at 14:09 British Summer Time 3 May

    Derbyshire 137-5 v Sussex

Luis Reece brings up a 77-ball fifty with a boundary, but then falls next ball, missing a straight ball from Fynn Hudson-Prentice and losing his off-stump.

It was a wonderful dogged innings, but he will be disappointed to go with a rain break looking imminent.

Anuj Dal joins Aneurin Donald who has struck eight fours and raced to a 36-ball 37.

  2. wicket

WICKET Westley b Gregory 43published at 14:05 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 111-6

One ball after Harry Duke drives Overton down the ground for four, Essex have lost their captain at the other end.

A full ball, bowled a tad slower from Lewis Gregory.

The ball beats a defensive push from Tom Westley and thuds into middle and off.

Simon Harmer joins Harry Duke in the middle.

  3. Division Two - Derbyshire counter-attackpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 3 May

It's hands on hips time from Sussex bowler Fynn Hudson-Prentice as he concedes three fours in four balls to an attacking Aneurin Donald.

The Welshman has raced to 24 off 31.

A decent counter-attack as Derbyshire move to 116-4.

  4. Postpublished at 14:01 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 107-5

Lewis Gregory oversteps and that's a no ball in an overwise testing over on the line of off stump.

There's more than a hint of sunshine in Taunton now - unlike some of our matches today.

Craig Overton continues to get good bounce and movement as Tom Westley leaves the rising ball outside off.

Westley is on his toes, pushing the third ball through cover off the back foot for one. He's on 43.

  5. 'Kent middle order fail to put up resistance'published at 13:58 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 83-5

    Ben Watts
    BBC Radio Kent

Lancashire have got another scalp just after lunch.

Will Williams has been getting this ball to move around this over and Harry Finch has to go.

The Kent middle order following the Zak Crawley dismissal has failed to put on much of a resistance.

  6. wicket

WICKET Finch LBW b Williams 3published at 13:53 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 83-5

    Lancashire strike early after lunch.

Will Williams has pinned Harry Finch leg before and Joey Evison is in the middle with Joe Denly.

Back of a length, striking just above the knee as Finch plays around a straightening delivery on the back foot.

That's a second wicket for Will Williams in the innings.

  7. Essex pass 100 five down at Tauntonpublished at 13:52 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 102-5

Lovely shot from Harry Duke, who plays a deft cover drive from just in front of the crease off Lewis Gregory for four runs to take Essex past 100 in the 30th over.

  8. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Headingleypublished at 13:51 British Summer Time 3 May

Ben Coad takes the first over after lunch from which Sam Northeast takes a single and Kiran Carlson gets off the mark with a two.

But then, that's it. The rain starts to get heavier and the umpires wave on the covers.

I hate to say it, but the forecast isn't great.

Elsewhere, a Luis Reece singles brings up three figures for Derbyshire shortly after the resumption.

Reece moves on to 43, while Aneurin Donald has nine. It's 100-4.

  9. Postpublished at 13:50 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 79-4

Harry Finch picks up a single to backward point off Tom Bailey, who then squares up Joe Denly outside off next ball.

He survives the over, costing the Red Rose county just the single.

  10. Postpublished at 13:46 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 97-5

Craig Overton drops the ball a tad short and Harry Duke sways back as the ball flies past his midriff.

A full length ball is pushed safely into mid on for one.

Somerset captain Lewis Gregory will resume bowling from the River End.

  11. Play resumes at Old Traffordpublished at 13:44 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 76-4

Now then - did anybody see this scoreline coming at 45-0 this morning?

Joe Denly is back in the middle with Harry Finch, on five and one respectively.

Denly will take guard to Will Williams.

  12. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 13:43 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 97-5

A great morning session for the hosts, who will fancy their chances of big first innings lead if they can prize Tom Westley out early this afternoon.

There has certainly been bounce and movement for the seam bowlers but there's also evidence that the pitch is flattening out.

The Essex captain resumes on 41 not out with Harry Duke on two.

Craig Overton will bowl to Duke.

  13. 'We may not see too much afternoon action'published at 13:22 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lunch: Yorkshire v Glamorgan 92-2

    Nick Webb
    BBC Radio Wales

Billy Root was dismissed on the stroke of lunch to give Yorkshire a much-needed breakthrough, given out caught at short-leg off spinner Dan Moriarty.

He looked unhappy with the decision after a composed innings of 51 off 95 balls, thanks to being dropped on six by brother Joe, adding 74 with Sam Northeast.

Moriarty was in the action inside half-an-hour, bowling 13 overs unchanged as Yorkshire opted to play on the same worn pitch used for the last match against Derbyshire.

With the lights on early, and rain on the way, we may not see too much afternoon action.

  14. 'Rain is forecast later'published at 13:20 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lunch: Derbyshire 95-4 v Sussex

A good toss for Sussex to win and bowl first with the floodlights on and total cloud cover engulfing the County Ground.

The wickets have been shared around, the wicket of Wayne Madsen courtesy of a brilliant leg side diving catch by John Simpson.

Opener Luis Reece has offered the main Derbyshire resistance, batting watchfully facing 68 balls for his 38.

Rain is forecast later this afternoon and Sussex will be keen to make further inroads before the anticipated deluge arrives.

  15. 'Unravelling for Kent'published at 13:17 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lunch: Lancs v Kent 76-4

    Scott Read
    BBC Radio Lancashire

It's an interesting shot for Jack Leaning to play with his team three wickets down just before 1pm.

It's all unravelled for Kent a little quickly heading into lunch.

  16. 'Somerset haven't missed Shoaib Bashir yet'published at 13:15 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lunch: Somerset v Essex 97-5

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

A good morning for Somerset and their all-seam attack, who have made good use of the opportunity to bowl first on a greenish pitch offering both bounce and movement.

For Essex, only their skipper Tom Westley has resisted the onslaught, going into lunch on 41.

Somerset have again courted controversy by omitting Shoaib Bashir from their final XI. They haven't missed him yet, but they might well do when Essex bat again, as pitches at Taunton tend to flatten out as the game goes on.

  17. Lunchtime scoreboardpublished at 13:12 British Summer Time 3 May

    Division One:

Old Trafford: Lancashire v Kent 76-4

    Taunton: Somerset v Essex 97-5

    Division Two:

    Derby: Derbyshire 95-4 v Sussex

Lord's: Middlesex v Leicestershire - no play before lunch (rain)

    Headingley: Yorkshire v Glamorgan 92-2

  18. Lunch in Division Twopublished at 13:11 British Summer Time 3 May

Glamorgan have had the better of things at Headingley but lost a second wicket to the final ball of the morning session.

Billy Root is judged to have got a thin edge to Dan Moriarty's ball, it deflects off his pad and Finlay Bean takes the catch at short leg.

Root is furious - he believes he did not touch the ball - but he goes for a fine 51 as the visitors reach lunch at 92-2, with Sam Northeast unbeaten on 27.

Derbyshire's good start has been checked after being put in at home by Sussex, slipping from 79-2 to 95-4 at lunch.

They lost David Lloyd (14), Brooke Guest (22), and then Wayne Madsen (6) and Matthew Lamb (2) in quick succession.

But at least opener Luis Reece is still there on 38 with Aneurin Donald.

And we're still waiting for a let-up in the rain and the toss at Lord's where the covers remain on.

  19. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:07 British Summer Time 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 97-5

Jake Ball loses his radar a little and spears a very wide ball down the off side, barely landing it on the cut strip. A wide is called.

The next ball is on middle and off and Harry Duke defends.

Lewis Gregory will bowl the last over before lunch and Tom Westley survives an LBW shout just before the break.

Emphatically Somerset's session but Essex still have hope with Westley at the crease on what looks like a better pitch than the green tinge suggests, under gradually clearing skies.

Craig Overton impressed in his comeback game for the hosts with 2-21, removing Nick Browne and Jordan Cox before taking a superb slip catch to dislodge Noah Thain.

  20. Lunch at Old Traffordpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 76-4

A brilliant session of play, which saw Kent battle through the first hour unscathed in tough conditions - and then lose four wickets for 27.

Joe Denly gets a single to deep square leg off George Balderson and Harry Finch blocks out the over.

Plenty of work for Kent to do in order to get back into this match after a promising start was undone from some persistently testing bowling from Lancashire's Balderson, who has 3-38.
