  1. Postpublished at 14:53 3 May

    Derbyshire 177-8 v Sussex

    Shot, Blair Tickner!

The Derbyshire number nine steps down the pitch and hits Danny Lamb back over his head for his first four.

Tickner then carves Jayden Seales through midwicket for another boundary.

What style from the Kiwi. He moves to 13.

  2. Postpublished at 14:52 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 136-7

The new batter is Shane Snater, who is off the mark first ball with a flashing drive off a thick edge behind point for four.

This could be a bit of a roller coaster innings from here.

  3. WICKET Harmer c Rew b Pretorius 5published at 14:48 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 132-7

    Horrid dismissal for Essex fans.

Simon Harmer is stuck on the crease, driving Migael Pretorius on bended knee, edging the ball waist high to keeper James Rew.

He could easily have left that.

  4. Postpublished at 14:47 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 125-5

George Balderson bowls to Joe Denly who tries to run the ball to gully but can't quite find the gap.

Four leg byes come off the third ball and Denly gets a single off the fourth to square leg.

  5. 'Derbyshire could get bowled out before the rain'published at 14:43 3 May

    Derbyshire 163-8 v Sussex

    Dave Fletcher
    BBC Radio Derby Sport

The wind has started to pick up here.

It might be more than a breeze and when that starts to whip up then we're in all sorts of trouble.

The Aneurin Donald wicket was disappointing

Every single bowler used by Sussex now has a wicket and Derbyshire could get bowled out before the rain comes which wouldn't be ideal because it is on the way.

The game has moved on at pace.

  6. Postpublished at 14:43 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 132-6

Can Essex double their score from here?

That may turn out to be a handy total, given the strength of their bowling attack.

Harry Duke moves to 20, driving the ball off a thick edge to backward point for four.

  7. WICKET Chappell run out (Haines) 12published at 14:43 3 May

    Derbyshire 163-8 v Sussex

Derbyshire could yet be bowled out before the rain comes.

It's a great piece of fielding from Tom Haines as Derbyshire lose their fourth wicket since lunch.

Zak Chappell plays a shot to mid-on and tries a single, but Haines moves around quickly, picks up and connects with a direct hit at the non-strikers end.

Jack Morley is next batter in.

  8. Postpublished at 14:40 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 118-5

Tidy over from Nathan Lyon, flighting the ball and bowling round the wicket. Just a couple of runs conceded.

Joey Evison moves to 22 with a firm front foot clip through mid wicket for four.

A rare loose ball there from George Balderson.

  9. Postpublished at 14:37 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 124-6

Another pause in play as more sawdust is applied to the bowler footmarks at Taunton.

Simon Harmer lives a charmed life as he again aims a flashing drive wide of off stump, missing the ball and agitating the three slips.

The sixth ball is leg side and glanced to backward square by Harmer for two.

  10. WICKET Donald c sub (Carter) b Seales 44published at 14:35 3 May

    Derbyshire 157-7 v Sussex

Zak Chappell wafts airily at a short, wide ball from Fynn Hudson-Prentice and is lucky not to connect as it whistles through to wicketkeeper John Simpson.

There's a bowling change and it brings instant rewards as Jayden Seales removes Aneurin Donald with his first ball.

The Welshman looks to attack Seales from ball one but instead cloths a simple catch for substitute fielder Ollie Carter at cover.

A fine 46-ball knock of 44 comes to a disappointing end.

Blair Tickner comes to the crease

  11. Postpublished at 14:33 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 109-5

Four more to Joey Evison who drills a ball from Nathan Lyon through extra cover with such timing and power that the fielder there doesn't move till the ball passes him.

George Balderson keeps Joe Denly quiet at the other end with five dot balls, but the sixth is short, left alone and called as a no ball.

Denly will keep the strike with a single pushed into the off side.

  12. Postpublished at 14:29 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 122-6

Harmer is comprehensively beaten by the returning Josh Davey outside off but survives the over.

Migael Pretorius is back on at the other end and starts his new spell with a no ball.

The next ball swings away but it's too wide of off to threaten Duke.

Duke gets a single driven through wide mid off.

  13. 150 up for Derbyshirepublished at 14:24 3 May

    Derbyshire 150-6 v Sussex

Derbyshire have put the hammer down after lunch as an Aneurin Donald single brings up the 150.

They've added 55 in just 43 balls after the resumption, but it's come at the cost of two more wickets.

Donald has been the main destroyer and is seven short of a half-century

They know rain is just around the corner - but we play on.

  14. Kent battle to 100 with five down at Old Traffordpublished at 14:24 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 100-5

Lancashire call on Nathan Lyon to bowl the 38th over of the innings.

Not much in the pitch for the off spinner, who nonetheless is tidy until the fifth ball, which is full and swept from outside off by Joe Evison behind square leg for four runs.

    That's the Kent 100.

  15. Postpublished at 14:21 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 118-6

Simon Harmer picks up a couple more runs, driving Craig Overton to extra cover.

Overton straightens his line and Harmer defends.

  16. Postpublished at 14:17 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 94-5

Shot! A bit of width from Tom Bailey and Joey Evison is forward, driving with a lovely flourish of the bat through cover for four.

George Balderson, the pick of the Lancashire attack this morning, is back on - but this time at the Brian Statham End.

A big LBW shout second ball is turned down. A bit high and leg side?

  17. WICKET Dal lbw b Robinson 4published at 14:17 3 May

    Derbyshire 146-6 v Sussex

Aneurin Donald clubs his seventh boundary in his last 10 balls faced.

Ollie Robinson is once again his victim and the England bowler asks the umpires to check the state of the ball.

It fails the hoop test and there’s a change of ball.

The move pays immediate dividends as Anuj Dal plays across the line and is trapped in front with the very first delivery of the 'new' ball.

    Zak Chappell is in.

  18. Postpublished at 14:13 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 116-6

Simon Harmer is down the track to Craig Overton, playing and missing a flashing off drive. Heart in mouth moment for Essex.

An attempted yorker is dug out.

    An eventful maiden over.

  19. Kent under the pump at Old Traffordpublished at 14:11 3 May

    Lancs v Kent 89-5

Kent have really struggled this afternoon since Zak Crawley departed for 41 before lunch, leaving the visitors on 63-2.

Just 24 runs added since. Joey Evison adds a couple more punched through mid off.

  20. 'The stump was nearly out'published at 14:10 3 May

    Somerset v Essex 111-6

    Annie Chave
    BBC Somerset

    That wicket was fairly comprehensive.

The stump was nearly out and Tom Westley, who has been looking pretty solid, walks towards the dressing room.
