    Worcs 49-6 v Lancs

The latest cab off the Pears batting rank, Matthew Waite, gets off the mark first ball with a single.

Anderson Phillip is back, replacing Tom Bailey whose superb eight-over opening spell ends on 3-9.

Waite carves in front of square to pick up two and then collects a couple more off the next.

He flashes at a wide one which is very wide and is called so by the umpire.

Phillip is short and wide once more and Waite cuts to the point boundary to move to nine off five balls.

  2. Postpublished at 15:20 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 123-7 v Hants

Jack Leach is having a go now and gets enough elevation on a flashing cut off James Fuller to loft the ball over the slips for four.

The sun is poking out from behind the clouds as Tom Kohler-Cadmore is forward to Liam Dawson to defend.

This has been a crucial innings from TKC with a bright start, consolidation, the odd loose shot and a flourish on the way to an unbeaten half century.

    Maiden over.

That's a lovely piece of bowling.

Round the wicket, angled in then straightens.

It continues this outstanding 80 minutes for Lancashire.

    And Worcestershire in tatters.

  4. 50 runs

50 for Tom Kohler-Cadmorepublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 118-7 v Hants

That's his first 50 in a fairly lean season averaging in the 20s - and what a time for him to find his best form on this tricky wicket.

He reaches the landmark going forward to Liam Dawson and squeezing the left-arm spinner into the leg side off a thick inside edge.

85 balls with five fours and a six.

WICKET Brookes b Balderson 7published at 15:14 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 39-6 v Lancs

Ethan Brookes pokes outside off stump as George Balderson induces a play and miss.

And then he's gone! A jaffa!

A second bowling point for Lancashire inside 16 overs as Balderson angles one into Brookes. It straightens and takes the top of off-stump.

Notts beware - everything is going Lancashire's way.

  6. 6 runs

Kohler-Cadmore on the chargepublished at 15:11 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 117-7 v Hants

Four singles off the Liam Dawson over and Tom Kohler-Cadmore greets James Fuller with a six pulled over mid wicket from the crease!

Nine runs off that over in total.

    TKC is on 49.

  7. Postpublished at 15:10 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 39-5 v Lancs

Ethan Brookes practices his forward defensive as Adam Hose drags his helmet back on and takes guard once more after a long disruption.

He has a couple to face from Tom Bailey and plays his best shot of the day.

Hose drives a loose half-volley for four to become the first Pears man into double figures.

  8. Play resumes at Tauntonpublished at 15:09 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 104-7 v Hants

    Just a short delay.

James Fuller will complete the 36th over - bowling to Tom Kohler Cadmore.

  9. Hose feeling the painpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 35-5 v Lancs

Adam Hose is back down again after getting hit full on the box.

This is a lengthy stoppage, but as anyone who has suffered this fate knows, you can't rush these things.

Rocky Flintoff offers a pat of sympathy.

  10. ouch!

Postpublished at 15:04 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 35-5 v Lancs

    Ooof!

Tom Bailey slides one past Adam Hose's outside edge. That wasn't far away from his off stump either.

Hose is down on all fours as Bailey's next delivery catches him where it hurts.

A good toss to win? Looks that way at New Road.

Keaton Jennings has only won four tosses all season but called correctly and would have had very little hesitation in putting Worcestershire into bat.

They've bowled beautifully, Tom Bailey by his high and consistent standards has had a slow season, but these conditions are perfect for him.

With time already lost, and with a mixed forecast, a win with maximum bowling points might be Lancashire's best hope.

  12. Postpublished at 15:01 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 35-5 v Lancs

The sunshine over New Road continues to defy the forecast as George Balderson runs in for his third over.

Adam Hose goes on the back foot and pushes the fourth ball through point for two.

Tom Bailey's whites pick up a big muddy mark as he slips fielding Hose's punch down the ground.

A single takes the partnership to 13 - this is now the biggest stand of a troubled innings.

  13. 'Pears have to find a way'published at 15:00 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 32-5 v Lancs

    Frank Watson
    BBC Hereford & Worcester

Lancashire fans below us have the smug grins of those who know their side have won a very good toss.

Worcestershire have got to try and find a way through this very tricky period.

  14. Postpublished at 14:57 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 32-5 v Lancs

Adam Hose steers down to third man to get off the mark with a couple off Tom Bailey.

That's as many runs as Bailey had leaked in his first 37 balls.

Hose gratefully takes a quick single to rotate the strike.

Ethan Brookes is squared up a little by a ball on a length but he survives.

Bailey now has 3-5 from seven overs. Figures ruined!

  15. Early tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 27-1 v Warwickshire

With Lancashire dominating at New Road, Notts and Warwickshire will both want to take as many points as possible to guarantee their safety.

And there's some better news from Nottingham where they're just about to take an early tea, and then the umpires will inspect conditions after.

The best news is that the rain has stopped.

  16. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Tauntonpublished at 14:54 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 104-7 v Hants

Jack Leach has his first runs, edging through to third man for two, taking Somerset to 100 in the 35th over.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore nearly gives it away with a loose drive off James Fuller, missing outside off.

He's going to have a go here.

He gets an inside edge via a miscued drive and the ball squirts away to long leg for one.

Leach ducks under a no-ball bouncer and flicks a leg side ball away fine for one.

The umbrellas are going up...and the players are going off.

This may not be the end.

A passing shower rather than a sustained deluge is possible.

  17. Postpublished at 14:52 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 29-5 v Lancs

A quicker ball from George Balderson takes Ethan Brookes by surprise but he fences it past the four slips and races back for a second run.

It's been a while, but the hosts have a boundary as Brookes punches Balderson down the ground down to the rope at long off.

  18. Postpublished at 14:48 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 22-5 v Lancs

Ethan Brookes pokes at a Tom Bailey delivery which beats the edge and flies through to wicketkeeper Matty Hurst.

Brookes then breaks the run of 25 dots, steering the ball down to third man to get off the mark with a single.

Sunshine breaks free of the menacing clouds for a mo.

It remains pretty gloomy if you're a Pears batter, mind you.

  19. wicket

WICKET Gregory LBW b Dawson 16published at 14:46 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 98-7 v Hants

Lewis Gregory is forward to Liam Dawson, trying to defend...

Hit on the pad and given!

Well forward but hit in line on the knee roll, probably hitting the top of leg stump.

Time for Jack Leach to have a bat.

  20. Postpublished at 14:45 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 98-6 v Hants

It's very gloomy out here but we're playing on for now.

James Fuller was going to bowl this morning before the rain delay but he is coming on now.

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is forward to defend.

And we're off one ball into the over... or not! The umpires have told the batters to return to the middle.

TKC withdraws his bat with a flourish inside the line facing Fuller.

He leaves a back of a length ball that seams in sharply over off stump.

Next, he misses a pull shot and the ball goes through to keeper Ben Brown. Short ball but it didn't bounce much.

    An eventful maiden over.
