  1. Bad light stops play at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:47 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 33-2 v Warks

The dark clouds are gathering around Trent Bridge and the Notts batters will hope they hurry up and arrive.

Ed Barnard sends down a super delivery to Freddie McCann which pitches on middle and off and jags away.

But what's this? The umpires are consulting.

We're going off again, this time for bad light which may well bring rain. Just the 26 balls this time in this mini session.

    The stop-start day continues.

  2. Hampshire begin their first inningspublished at 16:43 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 136 v Hants 0-0

28 overs, or possibly a bit less depending on light for Hampshire to negotiate - and on this pitch they'll be very happy if they do so with eight or nine wickets in hand.

Toby Albert and Fletcha Middleton will open the innings.

Somerset captain Lewis Gregory will bowl to Albert.

  3. wicket

    WICKET Slater c Rhodes b Hannon-Dalby 16published at 16:41 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 33-2 v Warks

Oliver Hannon-Dalby returns after his opening four-over spell went unrewarded.

    But now there's reward!

A beauty from the tall paceman who angles one in towards off-stump.

Ben Slater is forced to play and catches a healthy outside edge to Will Rhodes who dives to his right to pouch a sharp chance.

    Joe Clarke joins Freddie McCann.

  4. Postpublished at 16:39 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 33-1 v Warks

Nice footwork from Ed Barnard to stop Freddie McCann's punch back down the ground and deny him a run.

Barnard is in a nice rhythm here and beats the outside edge as McCann pushes at fresh air outside off stump.

The bowler then races towards his slips in celebration after cutting the young batter in half. But umpire David Millns is unmoved.

He signals that it hit the batter's hip rather than his edge.

  5. SOMERSET ALL OUT FOR 136published at 16:36 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 136 v Hants

Kyle Abbott celebrates taking wicketImage source, Getty Images

First ball! Kyle Abbott has beaten Shoaib Bashir with a full, straight delivery that hits the top of off stump...

Hang on. The umpires are having a chat...

A handkerchief came out of Abbott's pocket while he was bowling that ball and the umpires have ruled that was a distraction and therefore not out.

An appeal for LBW fifth ball and this time it is out.

A bizarre final over of the innings on a pitch that has offered seam and low bounce.

Only Archie Vaughan (29) and Tom Kohler-Cadmore (63) offered prolonged resistance.

Four wickets each for Abbott (4-37) and left-arm spinner Liam Dawson, who took 4-28.

Still 28 overs if conditions allow before stumps tonight.

  6. Postpublished at 16:34 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 32-1 v Warks

Ben Slater faces his first ball since the resumption.

Ooof, almost! Slater is late on Michael Booth's second delivery and it thuds into his thigh.

But the Notts opener is back up and running with a well-timed shot into the offside for four. He goes to 14.

Slater needs 67 runs from this match to reach the magic 1,000 mark for the season. Will he get there? He ticks another single off that target.

  7. Division One tablepublished at 16:31 British Summer Time 26 September

Just a reminder of how things stood heading into the final round of the 2024 campaign.

It's the bottom end of the table where we're focused.

Lancashire need a minimum of 15 points to stand any chance of surviving - but that's only if Notts fail to take any against Warwickshire.

The Red Rose county have made a great start at New Road, but the weather is frustrating them.

  8. Postpublished at 16:29 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 27-1 v Warks

The two left-handers Ben Slater and Freddie McCann return to the middle.

We've had just 11 overs today so far and 29 more are scheduled today.

They stayed out for just one ball last time before the umpires took them off for around 10 minutes.

Ed Barnard around the wicket to McCann. Plenty of oohs and aahs from the Bears slip cordon but no real problems for the 19-year-old.

Barnard picks up his second maiden of the day.

  9. wicket

    WICKET Kohler-Cadmore c Brown b Abbott 63published at 16:29 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 136-9 v Hants

Kyle Abbott returns to the attack from the Trescothick Pavilion End.

The floodlight pylons are casting long shadows over the ground.

    Got him second ball!

Tom Kohler-Cadmore is drawn into an airy drive half forward and edging to keeper Ben Brown.

He looks up to the heavens in a mixture of shock and despair.

Three bowling points for Hampshire and Shoaib Bashir is last in to bat for the hosts.

  10. Delay at New Roadpublished at 16:27 British Summer Time 26 September

    Worcs 119-7 v Lancs

There will indeed be a delay to the evening session in Worcester.

And with plenty of showers around, who knows whether or not they'll get back on today.

  11. Postpublished at 16:26 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 136-8 v Hants

Solid defence down the ground again from Alfie Ogborne, facing James Fuller now.

He leaves a shorter ball outside off, dropping his hands down as it passes him on the way to the keeper.

He gets away with a play and miss to another short ball outside off.

Fuller ends the over (a maiden) with a very short bouncer which Ogborne ducks underneath.

  12. Play to resume at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:25 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 27-1 v Warks

The sparse but hardy bunch of supporters let out a cheer as the umpire gives the go ahead for the hover cover to come off.

It rumbles into life and is helped to the side of the pitch.

The players re-emerge and we are set for more play.

  13. Restart delayed at Trent Bridgepublished at 16:23 British Summer Time 26 September

    Notts 27-1 v Warks

This is getting a little annoying now.

The planned 16:15 BST restart at Trent Bridge has been delayed.

A milky sun is shining at Trent Bridge but the hover cover remains on the wicket with the umpires and groundstaff milling around nearby.

No other sheets, however, so if there is rain it can't be very much.

  14. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 136-8 v Hants

Tom Kohler-Cadmore plays Mohammed Abbas into point and decides to abort the single.

Is he going to go over the top again?

Not yet as he withdraws the bat from outside an off stump line.

Last ball... scooped over the keeper's head for four!

Over to Alfie Ogborne and...James Fuller.

  15. Postpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 132-8 v Hants

Hampshire and Liam Dawson attack at the other end with a slip and a silly mid off in for Tom Kohler-Cadmore.

A single pushed into the off side and Alfie Ogborne has potentially two balls to face.

A pause in play as shin pads and a helmet are brought on to the field.

We now have two slips and a forward short leg to accompany silly mid off.

Ogborne defends down the ground to see out the over.

  16. Covers on at New Roadpublished at 16:17 British Summer Time 26 September

Worcs 119-7 v Lancs - tea, day one

Play is almost certain to be delayed after tea in Worcester...

  17. 'Let's get to 150'published at 16:16 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 131-8 v Hants

    Kevan James
    BBC Radio Solent commentator

It's not great watching at the moment.

But they've clearly had a word in the Somerset dressing room and said 'let's get to 150'.

On what we've seen off this pitch, that could be a marker.

So they might just squeeze it out in singles but that looks like the plan.

  18. Postpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 131-8 v Hants

The field continues to be set deep for Tom Kohler-Cadmore as Mohammed Abbas runs in to bowl his 15th over.

Kohler-Cadmore gets a thick inside edge going forward to squeeze the ball to square leg but he doesn't run.

He gets runs this time with a miscued drive off the toe end of the bat.

He gets the ball over the bowler's head however and runs one to keep the strike.

  19. rain stops play

Raining in Worcesterpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 26 September

Worcs 119-7 v Lancs - tea, day one

Ged Scott reports that it's "absolutely hoying it down" at New Road during the tea interval.

    Not good.

  20. 'Kohler-Cadmore's best innings'published at 16:07 British Summer Time 26 September

    Somerset 130-8 v Hants

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

By some margin, this has been the best innings Tom Kohler-Cadmore has played in the County Championship this season.

It's not very invigorating but he's doing a great job for his side.
