  1. Brave 41-2published at 40 balls

    Wyatt-Hodge 22, Kemp 7

Ah that's good from Danni Wyatt-Hodge.

Freya Davies had done well to keep things quiet again but Wyatt-Hodge plays a lovely dabbed cut through backward point.

    Trademark DWH.

It is important for Southern Brave to make sure that if they are not finding boundaries, then you are pushing the fielders for two.

  3. Brave 34-2published at 35 balls

Danni Wyatt-Hodge, as ever, looks keen to sweep. but Fire have a fielder placed for that shot behind square.

Captain Tammy Beaumont will know the Brave opener inside out from their England days, of course.

Brave have been superb in the post powerplay phase throughout the tournament. Between balls 26-50 they are averaging 41 runs per wicket - only Northern Superchargers have averaged more (44).

  5. Brave 28-2published at 30 balls

Leg-spinner Katie Levick makes a good start, conceding only the two runs from her first five balls.

You wouldn't know it was raining earlier. Southampton looks a picture.

It can be frustrating for an opener as you can find it hard to get a turn of the strike and that makes it hard to get into your innings properly.

It is a bit luck of the draw and at the moment Danni Wyatt-Hodge is struggling to be explosive.

  7. Brave 26-2published at 25 balls

    Wyatt-Hodge 13, Kemp 2

There's a young Brave fan in the crowd with a homemade banner that reads "Danni, you're my hero".

The Brave opener, recalled to England's ODI squad last week, pulls and cuts two boundaries to get the scoreboard moving again.

  8. dropped catch

    Brave 16-2published at 20 balls

It's really harsh to ball this a dropped. Freya Kemp loops one over cover off an edge and Alex Griffiths gets the tiniest fingertip on it as she throws a hand in the air.

  9. Brave 14-2published at 15 balls

Brave have sent in Freya Kemp at number four, rather than Sophie Devine, presumably to attack the powerplay.

An unbelievable grab from Sarah Bryce. She just plucked it out of the air.

This is exactly what the Welsh Fire need. They should be up and buzzing to finish the tournament well.

  11. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 14 balls

    Woolvardt c S Bryce b Ismail 8 (Brave 14-2)

Gone next ball! Laura Wolvaardt falls to her South Africa team-mate Shabnim Ismail as a speedy shorter ball finds an edge. Wicketkeeper Sarah Bryce takes up her right hand and the ball settled in the middle of her gloves.

  12. Brave 14-1published at 13 balls

The first boundary comes off an inside edge that goes whistling past Laura Wolvaardt stumps.

The second is a lovely square drive, however.

Hayley Matthews has been very effective with the ball in the powerplay this year. From her 25 balls bowled she has conceded just 20 runs and taken two wickets.

  14. Brave 5-1published at 10 balls

Laura Wolvaardt joins Danni Wyatt-Hodge in the middle.

A fantastic breakthrough from Hayley Matthews. That ball stayed low but it had some turn.

Maia Bouchier thought it was going to bounce more than it did.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 9 balls

    Bouchier b Matthews 2 (Brave 5-1)

It has only been nine balls but that steady start from Welsh Fire brings a wicket, Maia Bouchier, keen to press on, has a swing across the line to Hayley Matthews' spin and is bowled.

  17. Brave 3-0published at 5 balls

It's a careful start from Danni Wyatt-Hodge and Maia Bouchier.

It is hard to know what is going wrong for the Welsh Fire but there is such a stigma around them and has been since the beginning of this tournament.

  19. Brave 1-0published at 4 balls

I mentioned this yesterday, but if any players need a reason for motivation in a dead rubber - they shouldn't but just bear with me - then the looming ripping up of squads for next season could provide some.

There's talk teams may only be able to retain three players. Fire have Hayley Matthews, Tammy Beaumont, Sophia Dunkley and Shabnim Ismail.

The last time these two teams met it was a close game so anything can happen. The 100 balls are short but everyone will be confident in the Southern Brave with them being on home turf.
