    Just checking in?

James Anderson opened the bowling for England in his final Test, but wasn't among the wickets in the morning session at Lord's.

Debutant seamer Gus Atkinson took the wickets of Kraigg Brathwaite and Kirk McKenzie in the second hour of the day, before Harry Brook took a spectacular catch to remove Mikyle Louis off the bowling of captain Ben Stokes.

West Indies closed the session on 61-3, with England well on top.

If you're looking to fill your lunchtime with something other than food, Test Match Special are currently playing Jonathan Agnew's recent interview with the man of the moment, James Anderson.

He's taking a look back through his career and the way he's evolved as a bowler. It's a great listen - you can tune in at the top of the page.

Did the maths for that stat myself, by the way.

    Watch out, Zaltzman.

West Indies scored 16 runs in the first two overs this morning, then 45 in the remaining 26.

That means that over 26% of their runs came in the first 12 balls.

England will be delighted with that first session, especially after not taking a wicket in the first hour.

    Thanks, Ffion.

I've already tucked into some mac and cheese from the BBC canteen. High carb to power me through the next 30 overs.

I'm also going to grab myself some lunch. I'll leave you in the hands of Mike Peter to take you through the interval and the afternoon session.

  8. Lunch - 61-3published at 28 overs

    And that is that.

England's session, after West Indies made a positive start. A dream debut for Gus Atkinson, a stunning catch for Harry Brook, a positive return for Ben Stokes but Jimmy Anderson wicketless (so far).

Mikyle Louis played some eye-catching shots in his 27 but the boundaries have dried up since his departure. Alick Athanaze and Kavem Hodge are digging in for West Indies' middle-order rescue.

I like Hodge's mindset - he is looking to score and put the bad balls to the boundary.

  10. WI 61-3published at 27 overs

The rarest of sights, as James Anderson drops one too short and it's a gift for Kavem Hodge to punish through the covers.

West Indies have got to keep trying to be positive.

Ben Stokes gets through another probing over, ending it with a chat and a laugh with Joe Root.

He's bowled seven overs, 1-14. It's been a great spell. West Indies are digging in, but going nowhere.

We should have time for two more overs before lunch.

    Fazeer Mohammed
West Indian commentator on BBC Sounds

The challenge for the West Indies is that their young players don't get the time to hone their craft in Test cricket - it's a drum that needs beating, no matter how uncomfortable that makes people. It can't be right that only three teams in the world play five-Test series. In what other sport would you have that and still call it a level playing field?

There was never a single on! Don't get run out at Lord's, the Home of Cricket.

  14. WI 53-3published at 25 overs

Ironically, it's Jimmy Anderson who can't buy a wicket at the moment. He's getting plenty of movement, and Kavem Hodge edges one past his stumps before there's a mix-up that almost results in a run out.

Steady. Only 10 minutes until lunch.

    Take a bow, Harry Brook.

  16. WI 50-3published at 24 overs

    Shot!

Kavem Hodge releases a bit of pressure with a lovely square drive for four. It was slightly aerial, but safely wide of point and a much-needed boundary.

Ben Stokes on to 199 Test wickets, one off a double of 200 wickets and 6,000 runs. Only Sir Garfield Sobers and Jacques Kallis have done such a double. Decent company.

  18. WI 46-3published at 23 overs

    West Indies were 34-0 after 10 overs. They're now 46-3 after 23.

    England have squeezed brilliantly.

Harry Brook has worked really hard on his fitness and has spoken about how he can up his contribution to the England team. There's the pay-off.

  20. WI 45-3published at 22 overs

The catch was brilliant, and Mikyle Louis was looking settled on 27 so West Indies are in a pickle now. We know that their batting is their weak point, and Stokes has got the ball on a string.

This is a very, very welcome sight for England.
