Well, there was a lot of chaos in that one ball. Crawley was gone with a direct hit.

  2. Eng 1-0published at 1 over

A rather chaotic start for England, as Zak Crawley wafts at an Alzarri Joseph delivery that almost takes the edge.

There's then almost a run out as Crawley edges in the vicinity of the slips and tries to set off. Ben Duckett reaches halfway down the pitch before being turned back and has to make a dive for his crease - although a throw to the non-striker's end was not forthcoming.

Finally a run comes with a single turned towards fine leg.

In terms of actual game time, neither Duckett or Crawley have played much but I don't think that'll bother either of them. Ben Duckett played a T20 on Friday!

It's very difficult for a bowler in this situation. You've got to come out and be aggressive, you know that early wickets are your currency because there are so few runs to defend.

Just a couple of boundaries can really deflate you, and they know that England's openers will look to do that.

Not much time for a breather, England openers Ben Duckett and Zak Crawley are walking out to the middle.

England shouldn't be complacent, despite their commanding position - the West Indies pace attack of Jason Holder, Alzarri Joseph, Shamar Joseph and Jayden Seales is highly impressive.

From West Indies' point of view, that was poor.

Yes, they are inexperienced, but they are better than that. There were some poor shots, the decision-making wasn't there.

It was always going to be the case that their batting line-up was going to be the weaker point but they have got such a good bowling attack, that if they can manage to put some runs on the board at some point, they will cause problems.

    Well, what a remarkable session.

You may have forgotten, but the West Indies had a decent spell right after lunch, scoring 27 runs in the first six overs after the interval.

But after that England's bowlers - and debutant Gus Atkinson in particular - tore them apart, taking them from 88-3 to 121 all out in just eight overs.

Atkinson was obviously the pick of the bowlers, finishing with remarkable figures of 7-45 and a place on the Lord's honours board.

All the build-up around Jimmy might've helped the likes of Gus Atkinson and Jamie Smith because they've gone under the radar a bit, it's allowed them to just crack on.

But that's a very promising start from Atkinson. He bowled with good zip and pace at the first time of asking. For a long time now England have wanted to build this crop of fast bowlers and he has delivered.

It's Jimmy Anderson's last Test, but we're all applauding the newcomer.

What a day for Gus Atkinson. He's had a wonderful, unforgettable start to his Test career.

All reds on ball tracking - Anderson finally has a wicket in his final Test!

He wraps up the innings, as he has done so many times for England, and the West Indies batters trudge off the field having scored just 121.

Has Jimmy got his 701st wicket in Test cricket?

He strikes Jayden Seales on the pads in front of the stumps with an in-swinger.

Given out, the West Indies are reviewing, because why not, but it doesn't look good.

As a fast bowling unit, it's been a great effort from England. They did the hard yards before lunch by drying up the runs and now they are taking the rewards.

The sun is just starting to creep through. It now feels like a lovely day for batting!

I'd say it's a 300 par pitch. The West Indies are going to fall well short of that.

Jimmy's going to have to get nine of the 11 remaining West Indies wickets in the game if he's going to go past Shane Warne!

  19. WI 113-9published at 40 overs

James Anderson returns to replace Chris Woakes for his first over after lunch.

Before play begun today, all eyes were on the veteran. There was talk of him maybe even taking the nine wickets that would see him pass Shane Warne on the all-time Test wicket taking list.

He wouldn't have expected to be wicketless with the West Indies 112-9 - indeed he's the only England bowler without a wicket today.

Gudakesh Motie ensures he won't get one in this over, instead guiding a ball past third slip for four.

It has been a sad capitulation from the West Indies' point of view.

But they do not have much experience in this format. There were scores of 20, 30 and that is quite often the limitations of their concentration levels because they are not used to it.

When wickets fall, they fall in clusters. It happens too often.
