Full, straight and into the lower part of the shin. Bang in front of middle. That is as out as out can be.

  2. wicket

Da Silva lbw b Wood 5 (WI 156-5)

    Absolutely plumb.

Gun-barrel straight from Mark Wood as he hits Joshua Da Silva right in front of the stumps.

The England quick bowler was unlucky with a couple of previous lbw shouts, but there is no doubting this one. Da Silva knows it and walks off.

  3. WI 156-5published at 45 overs

A cautious pragmatism to the way Kavem Hodge and Joshua Da Silva are approaching matters here against Shoaib Bashir with just a single off the over.

In terms of time, we're only just approaching the halfway point in this Test match so there's no rush from their perspective.

  4. How's stat?published at 13:55 British Summer Time 28 July

    Andy Zaltzman
    Statistician on Test Match Special

Over 30% of Mark Wood's deliveries in this series have produced either an edge or a play and miss.

Here he's had two umpire's review lbw's go against him and a dropped catch. Unlucky!

  5. WI 155-5published at 44 overs

A beauty from Mark Wood with his second ball of the over as squares up Joshua Da Silva. The ball whistles through to wicketkeeper Jamie Smith.

Two slips in place, as well as men in the deep for the short ball.

A two-pronged attack from Wood and England.

  7. WI 153-5published at 13:51 British Summer Time 28 July

    Lead by 60 runs

Shoaib Bashir, who has threatened both edges with his bowling in this innings, into the attack. Kavem Hodge and Joshua Da Silva pick up a single apiece off his 14th over.

  8. Crawley gone for scan on fingerpublished at 13:49 British Summer Time 28 July

The ECB has just confirmed that Zak Crawley has left the venue for a scan.

Crawley received a blow to his right index finger while attempting a catch in the first session of the day.

I did a bit of investigate journalism at lunchtime and saw Zak Crawley getting in a car.

If there was no batter there, that's cartwheeling leg-stump out of the ground! I'd say percentage wise that was in 40s in terms of hitting leg-stump.

  11. Da Silva survivespublished at 41.4 overs

Joshua Da Silva is a lucky boy.

The ball was clipping leg stump, but it is umpire's call.

  12. England reviewpublished at 41.4 overs

Mark Wood appeals for a wicketImage source, Getty Images

Full and quick from Mark Wood, who strikes Kavem Hodge on the pad. England appeal, but it looks to be drifting down leg and Ben Stokes declines to review it

A couple of ball later and he repeats the feat to Joshua Da Silva. This time the appeal is more vociferous and Stokes takes it upstairs.

Kavem Hodge on strike. Mark Wood, wicketless so far in this innings, has the ball in hand.

    Play.

West Indies are showing some good fight.

I feared for them this morning when they lost that first wicket because it could have become a precession.

Kavem Hodge has got stuck in. He's enjoying himself.

  15. Postpublished at 13:40 British Summer Time 28 July

The umpires have just made their way back out to the middle. England are currently having a team huddle on the edge of the boundary.

A few more clouds around at Edgbaston but still glorious conditions for batting.

  16. Postpublished at 13:39 British Summer Time 28 July

There have been a few positives for West Indies, thanks to half-centuries for Mikyle Louis and Kavem Hodge.

The latter will resume in a couple of minutes unbeaten on 52 off 58 balls.

It was a really interesting morning session at Edgbaston.

There is a lot of work for West Indies to do if they are going to set a meaningful target.

Meanwhile, over the Irish sea there was a tense final day at Stormont as Ireland resumed on 33-5 in pursuit of 158 to win a one-off Test against Zimbabwe.

Half-centuries from Lorcan Tucker and Andy McBrine helped get them over the line with four wickets in hand. Mark Adair, who lives about 10 minutes' drive from Stormont, also chipped in with an unbeaten 24.

Our colleagues in Northern Ireland will have more reaction to that result here...

    Thanks, Sam.

I'm more of a fan of lolly ices in all honesty.

No ice-cream for lunch here but I did quickly grab myself a dessert before heading back to watch to the press box to watch the final few balls before the interval.

Lime and coconut panna cotta today. Top class.
