    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 365-6

Pretty rank full-ross from Mason Crane is paddled away by Peter Handscomb to the fence for four, to move him to 139 from 247 balls.

Glamorgan get the nod for Ned Leonard to bowl the next over so maybe it's brightened up a touch. They certainly need a breakthrough to lighten their gloom.

Visitors are 66 in front. 25 overs and change remain in the match.

We have been waxing lyrical about Farhan Ahmed's debut for the last four days and rightly so.

The 16-year-old's match figures of 10-217 mean he has beaten a record previously held by WG Grace - always a sign of something special.

Aged 16 years and 192 days, he becomes the youngest player to take 10 wickets in a first-class match in England.

WG did it at The Oval in 1865, aged 16 years and 339 days.

Well played, young man (as a famous Nottingham-based football manager was fond of saying)!

  3. Postpublished at 16:22 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 359-6

Liam Trevaskis has gone back to sleep. He's scored one off the 12 balls he's faced since clobbering that six off Mason Crane.

The lead for Leicestershire is up to 60. The weather radar will gladden their hearts too. The Bristol Channel looks very wet at present.

England and Somerset spinner Jack Leach grabbed the fifth 10-wicket haul of his first-class career

If one of the aims of using a Kookaburra ball for this and the next round of Championship games was to get spinners more involved, then it has worked a treat.

Four of them claimed 10 in the match, led by teenage sensation Farhan Ahmed on debut while Dom Bess and Will Jacks have both taken seven in an innings.

What a week for the spinners:

    12-174 - Jack Leach (Somerset)

    11-157 - Jack Carson (Sussex)

    10-99 - Liam Dawson (Hampshire)

    10-217 - Farhan Ahmed (Notts)

7-179 - Dom Bess (Yorkshire, one innings)

7-129 - Will Jacks (Surrey, first innings)

    5-96 - Liam Patterson-White (Notts, second innings)

  5. Bad light stops play at Headingleypublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec & 150-2 v Middx 522

Well, we weren't anticipating an action-packed finish to the game - but eight balls might be all we get in this final session.

The umpires decide the light has deteriorated sufficiently to take the players off, with just one run added to the Yorkshire total - the one that took James Wharton to 50.

  6. 6 runs

Six for Liam Trevaskispublished at 16:11 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 352-6

He's blocked the first 55 balls for eight runs, so obviously Liam Trevaskis launches this one from Mason Crane 10 rows back into the stands over cow corner for a maximum.

Crane has been through the mill the past 25 hours or so, he'd love to help his side back into the ascendency here.

    Leicestershire lead by 53.

James Wharton notches a half-century in the first full over after tea, driving Leus du Plooy to mid-off for a single.

It's Wharton's fifth first-class 50 and arrives from 55 balls. He's the ninth player to pass 50 in this match - or arguably 10th, as Adam Lyth did it twice.

  8. Postpublished at 16:09 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 & 60-0 v Surrey 525 & 177-9 dec

Conor McKerr bowls a maiden to Haseeb Hameed to start this final session.

BBC Radio Nottingham's Dave Bracegirdle says that it's not what Notts need if they want to launch an unlikely pursuit of victory.

    Bracers, we love that enthusiasm!

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 344-6

No brighter on the banks of the River Taff at the start of the final session of this see-saw match.

On safety grounds the hosts have been told they will need to bowl only spin if they are to stay out there. Asa Tribe will take the opening over of the session.

It's Leicestershire who will be happier at this point, having negotiated four sessions for the loss of only six wickets.

If they can avoid losing four in the next hour or so then you'd think the job will be done.

Sussex players celebrate a wicket at HoveImage source, Rex Features

As Sussex players enjoy a celebratory drink in the dressing room, their push for promotion gets that bit stronger.

Division One cricket could be returning to Hove next April.

Next up they have a home quarter-final in the T20 Blast against Lancashire on Wednesday night.

Hove is sold out for that one, so these are good times on the south coast.

  13. Tea at Trent Bridgepublished at 15:43 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 & 60-0 v Surrey 525 & 177-9 dec

We are going to have the final break of this four-day game.

Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater have taken any possible sting out of this fourth innings with their 50 partnership.

Surrey's lead at the top of the Championship is going to be cut by 11 points.

  14. Tea at Sophia Gardenspublished at 15:41 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 344-6

Glamorgan have got their over rate back in the black during this session, which is something, at the very least. It was minus four at one stage.

However they picked up just two wickets, which probably needed to be four or five to keep their hopes of winning this one alive.

Peter Handscomb has frustrated them at every turn since last night, when he was put down by Mason Crane, let's not forget. His 126 has helped the visitors build a lead of 45 ahead of the final session.

If Leicestershire secure a draw, with or without the aid of the weather, then Glamorgan will have plenty of regrets to look back on.

  15. wicket

WICKET: Lyth c Higgins b Helm 62published at 15:40 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 & 149-2 v Middx 522

Right on the stroke of tea, Adam Lyth squanders the chance of a hundred as he latches onto a floaty delivery from Tom Helm and plonks it straight into the hands of short cover.

Lyth made 61 in the first innings and one more than that second dig, but he looks annoyed with himself for that soft dismissal. Which is not to say he'll be inclined to start throwing teacups during the interval.

  16. Postpublished at 15:34 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 342-6

Liam Trevaskis survives back-to-back appeals after the ball balloons off his pad as he comes forward and into the hands of the close catcher.

The appeal might have been for lbw actually, but whatever they wanted, all they got is a shake of the head from the umpire.

The Leicestershire lead is 42. 35 overs remain. The weather radar looks like a psychedelic nightmare.

Peter Handscomb, on 125 not out, is a very content man at this point.

  17. Postpublished at 15:30 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec & 141-1 v Middx 522

News of that Sussex success against Derbyshire won't have been popular in either camp at Headingley, but it seems inevitable that Yorkshire and Middlesex will be sharing the points.

That's looked likely for some time. We have 39 overs scheduled for the rest of the match, but it's really developing into net practice for Adam Lyth and James Wharton now.

  18. 50 runs

50 for Nottspublished at 15:29 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 & 50-0 v Surrey 525 & 177-9 dec

25 apiece for Haseeb Hameed and Ben Slater adds up to 50. It has come off 12 overs at a nice rate.

There are 36 overs to go, but we won't be out for that long.

  19. SUSSEX BEAT DERBYSHIRE BY AN INNINGS AND 59 RUNSpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 258 all out

It's not Jack Carson who delivers the final blow, but Henry Crocombe as he bowls an ailing Anuj Dal.

Carson finishes with 6-67 and career-best match figures of 11-157 as Sussex beat Derbyshire by an innings.

A terrific four days of cricket from Sussex as they claim a 24-point victory to put vital distance between them and chasers Yorkshire and Middlesex.

Daniel Hughes set the tone with 144 at more than a run-a-ball on day one and then they worked hard to take 20 wickets.

From 204-2 just before lunch, they have ultimately run through the Derbyshire batting today.

  20. WORCESTERSHIRE BEAT ESSEX BY 43 RUNSpublished at 15:23 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 404 & 140 lose to Worcs 266 & 321.

What an unbelievable game of cricket. The Pears have done it.

Sam Cook holes out to Ethan Brookes in the deep off Logan van Beek.

12 wickets have fallen inside two sessions at Chelmsford.

van Beek, in his first red ball match since March, has taken 4-26.

Surrey will be the happiest of all, as Essex falter, though Worcestershire have boosted their chances of Division One survival.

They were 10-4 on the first morning and gave up a first innings lead of 138.

    Incredible.
