Never mind double-barrel, it's quintuple-barrel today as Liam Patterson-White collects his fifth wicket.

He and Michael Pepper put on a huge century stand in the first innings which set-up this finale. They only need 65 here.

As Worcestershire push for a win against Essex, anyone connected with Lancashire will be keeping a very close eye on that one.

The Red Rose are going to finish the round of matches in the relegation zone after a second consecutive innings defeat inside three days at home to Hampshire, following a crushing loss to Surrey.

It is the first time that has happened in Championship cricket for 117 years for Lancashire and head coach Dale Benkenstein was pretty frank afterwards.

"The Surrey game you put down as the champions and a very good side," he told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"But in Division One, you come up against good sides every week and we're giving players no excuses over the last few days."

  8. Postpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 1 September 2024

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 296-5

Louis Kimber has survived a caught-and-bowled chance, seen a ball he'd left fly an inch over middle stump and edged behind, only for the ball to seemingly drop millimetres short of keeper Chris Cooke.

He's just been done a kipper again by Timm van der Gugten with an inside edge past his own stumps which drops just short of Cooke again and then a big swing and a miss.

When your luck is in, it's in.

Durham need another 300 to win - but that looks like a technicality and has done ever since that dramatic mini-session last night.

As Clive Tyldesley famously said when a 16-year-old kid called Wayne Rooney scored his first Premier League goal, 'Remember the name'.

It feels very much the same with Farhan Ahmed. He looks like a spin bowler far beyond his teenage years.

    Skill, guile, determination.

    Remember the name!

Louis Kimber gets an edge to Timm van der Gugten and it flies through to the keeper who takes the catch down by his laces.

Kimber stands his ground. He doesn't think this carried. Chris Cooke doesn't know. The slips cordon celebrate like it did. The umpires have a chat.

    Kimber survives.

Benefit of the doubt, in a high stakes moment.

Incredible stuff from 16-YEAR-OLD Farhan Ahmed!!
