  1. Lunch at Hovepublished at 13:06 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 208-4

After more than 100 minutes of sweat and toil, a great end to the session for Sussex.

The wickets of Wayne Madsen and David Lloyd have changed the mood as the Division Two leaders now only need six more Derbyshire wickets.

They are still 109 runs adrift and much of their hopes rest with Harry Came who is 72 not out from 248 balls.

  2. Lunch at Chelmsfordpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 75-4 v Worcs - target 184

... but I am honestly not sure if either team will be able to eat anything,..

This one has become very interesting indeed in the past half-hour, with three wickets falling in just over six overs.

109 more runs required after lunch for the hosts to pick up a win which would keep them in the title chase. However only six wickets with which to do it.

In theory all four results remain possible on the final afternoon of day four.

Would anyone have it any other way?

  3. Lunch at Tauntonpublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 94-6 (target 420)

Jack Leach rattles off a maiden to enable Somerset to squeeze in one more over before the interval and Bas de Leede takes the opportunity to score his first boundary off Archie Vaughan.

De Leede has seven, with Ashton Turner on 11 at the other end and it looks like an extremely uphill struggle for Durham to stave off defeat here, unless the weather intervenes.

  4. Lunch at Trent Bridgepublished at 13:04 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 104-4

A super morning for Notts who have completely stalled Surrey's hopes of pushing for victory.

Only 90 runs added off 31 overs with three wickets lost.

Remarkably, spin duo Liam Patterson-White and Farhan Ahmed have bowled all 38 overs so far in this innings.

Surrey lead by 224 runs with 72 overs left in this game. Surely even they can't force a win in this one.

  5. Lunch at Headingleypublished at 13:02 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec & 14-0 v Middx 522

Adam Lyth and Finlay Bean add 14 to the Yorkshire lead in the four overs before lunch and that puts the home side 93 ahead overall.

That ends a comparatively wicket-laden session, with Middlesex's last five all falling after just 11 had gone down across the previous three days.

Still hard to see anything bar a draw in this one, but you never know.

  6. Lunch at Sophia Gardenspublished at 13:01 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 271-4

Ajinkya Rahane and Peter Handscomb have made their task vastly more difficult with a stand of 183 but Glamorgan's hopes of victory are still alive, just.

Rahane departed for 102 but Peter Handscomb remains unbeaten on 94. Leicestershire trail by 28 and have six wickets in hand.

A couple more after lunch and things might get interesting.

Keep an eye on the skies this afternoon too, you can bet Leicestershire will be...

  7. wicket

WICKET Lloyd c Simpson b Unadkat 0published at 12:58 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 208-4

    One brings two for Sussex!

Jaydev Unadkat does the trick again with the new ball.

His angle from over the wicket does for Derbyshire captain David Lloyd, who feels that he has to play and nicks off.

A four-ball duck for the skipper, and Sussex sense a big chance now.

  8. 100 runs

100 up for leaderspublished at 12:56 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 100-4

Rory Burns runs a single off Liam Patterson-White and that is Surrey's 100 up.

But this is the 37th over, so we are under three runs an over.

Can we mention the D word now?

  9. wicket

WICKET Cox c D'Oliveira b van Beek 11published at 12:54 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 71-4 v Worcs - target 184

    WHAT A CATCH.

Two in three balls. Jordan Cox tries to slap Logan van Beek back beyond him but that man Brett D'Oliveira is still there at short mid-on, daring him to try it.

He tries it, and D'Oliveira produces a stunning one-handed catch to his right.

Cox departs. Two wickets in three balls.

Paul Walter and Matt Critchley are both new at the crease.

    Game on!

  10. wicket

WICKET Das run out (D'Oliveira) 32published at 12:51 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 69-3 v Worcs - target 184

Worcestershire v EssexImage source, Rex Features

Wow. At the non-striker's end. Heartbreak for Robin Das.

Jordan Cox punches Logan van Beek back down the track but with Das on the walk, Brett D'Oliveira dives to his left from short-mid-on and deflects the ball onto the timbers.

Das is trudging off. Matt Critchley is the new man. He and Cox have shared fireworks before. Can they do so again?

  11. wicket

WICKET Madsen c Haines b Unadkat 77published at 12:49 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 204-3

    Finally!

Only 11 minutes to go until lunch and Sussex have the wicket they have toiled away for all morning.

Wayne Madsen has clocked up 215 runs in this match, but he won't get any more as he is squared up by left-armer Jaydev Unadkat and Tom Haines takes a very good low catch at gully as that went quickly.

The new ball does produce something for the hosts.

  12. Postpublished at 12:49 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec & 8-0 v Middx 522

It'll be interesting to see how Yorkshire approach this second innings. Even though the pitch has offered the bowlers more assistance this morning, you can't imagine they'll want to risk setting Middlesex a target in the final session.

With that said, it's a brisk start from Adam Lyth second time around as he cuts Toby Roland-Jones for two boundaries in the opening over.

  13. Postpublished at 12:48 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 98-4

Farhan Ahmed sends a beauty past Rory Burns from round the wicket.

He has 1-42 from 17 overs in this innings, bowling unchanged from the start.

The 16-year-old is doing a superb job in keeping the brakes on this Surrey second knock.

  14. wicket

WICKET Rahane c Cooke b Carlson 102published at 12:47 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 257-4

Kiran Carlson has the golden arm.

Ajinkya Rahane has gone, reaching to cut Carlson away again but nicking into the gloves of Chris Cooke standing up. Nicely taken and sparks wild celebrations.

The Glamorgan lunch will taste so much sweeter now.

The hosts lead by 42 but have broken the partnership for 183.

Rehan Ahmed is the new man.

  15. Postpublished at 12:44 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 81-6 (target 420)

Bas de Leede is finally off the mark, nudging Jack Leach away for two behind square, although runs are probably not relevant to the match situation now with Durham needing another 340.

It's all about survival and, while Durham are six down, bear in mind that they still have first-innings centurion Brydon Carse and Ben Raine to come in at nine and 10 respectively.

  16. Postpublished at 12:43 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 64-2 v Worcs - target 184

A beautifully-timed punch down the track from Jordan Cox off Logan van Beek beats the dive of Joe Leach at mid-on and races away to the rope.

    120 more required for Essex.

How Worcestershire would love a third wicket before lunch.

  17. 200 runs

200 up for Derbyshirepublished at 12:40 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 202-2

A lousy long hop from Fynn Hudson-Prentice and Wayne Madsen thunders it through the covers for the four it deserves.

That sees the 200 come up for the visitors, who still trail by 115 runs.

Balls like that are not what Sussex need with the new cherry.

  18. 100 runs

100 for Ajinkya Rahanepublished at 12:38 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 253-3

    Ajinkya RahaneImage source, Rex Features

His first for Leicestershire and his 40th in first class cricket. The 36-year-old has 85 caps under his belt for India and is showing all that experience here.

He brings up three figures from 178 balls with consecutive cuts for four off Kiran Carlson.

Rahane was dropped twice in the 30s by Mason Crane off his own bowling yesterday, remember.

    The deficit is under 50.

  19. Postpublished at 12:36 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 244-3

Sam Northeast is digging into his bag of tricks and has tossed the ball to Kiran Carlson to turn his arm over as the hosts seek to break this partnership which is edging towards 200.

The 26-year-old has 34 first class wickets in 90 matches at 57... although did pick up 5-28 once. What Glamorgan would give for another of those this afternoon.

  20. MIDDLESEX ALL OUTpublished at 12:35 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 v Middx 522

A mammoth bowling stint by Dom Bess finally comes to an end as he claims his seventh wicket!

The Yorkshire spinner's final figures are 7-179 from 70.4 overs as Noah Cornwell swings him away on the off side and Jordan Thompson, back-pedalling, does extremely well to complete the catch.

Cornwell's maiden Championship innings ends without a run and Middlesex are finally bowled out for a deficit of 79.
