    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 332-6

Gloomy at Sophia Gardens. Sam Northeast has gone double spin in an attempt to stay out there as long as possible, though their run rate is also a little behind where they'd want it.

The weather forecast does not look helpful to the home side's cause either.

Liam Trevaskis has been happy to block his way to seven from 29 balls. Peter Handscomb is still there on 117 from 213 - a game-saving knock. The Foxes lead by 33.

39 overs remain, but Mother Nature will rob us of some of them, if not all.

    Leicestershire's work is nearly done.

  2. Postpublished at 15:17 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec & 131-1 v Middx 522

Back in 2016, Middlesex and Yorkshire shared a thrilling climax to the County Championship season, with both sides gambling to keep their hopes of lifting the trophy alive.

Today is rather different, however - it's very much a case of stick rather than twist. Yorkshire are continuing to accumulate runs, but not in a way that hints at setting up genuine a run chase after tea.

Adam Lyth has 38 and James Wharton 35, with the home side leading by 210.

  3. wicket

WICKET Dupavillon c Hughes b Carson 1published at 15:17 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 254-8

    Make that one wicket...

Career-best figures now in an innings for Jack Carson as he has number 10 Daryn Dupavillon caught at silly point in regulation fashion for his sixth dismissal.

Carson now has 20 wickets in his last two matches. A spinner coming to the fore in late summer as should be the case.

  4. Postpublished at 15:15 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 254-8

Derbyshire all-rounder Anuj Dal is putting his body on the line for the team.

He has Brooke Guest out as a runner for him and he has faced 20 balls for his one not out.

Sussex, of course, are in hot pursuit of these final two wickets for an innings win.

  5. wicket

WICKET Snater c Roderick b van Beek 4published at 15:09 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 137-9 v Worcs - target 184

    Magnificent catch from Gareth Roderick.

    Worcestershire are one wicket away.

Logan van Beek bangs one in at Shane Snater's left hip, he gets a good glance off the bat and it looks for all the world like it will race away for four, however Roderick dives full stretch to his left to make a stunning catch inches off the grass. Snater, and his runner Dean Elgar, have to go.

Jamie Porter is the last man, joining Sam Cook. 46 needed to win.

  6. Postpublished at 15:07 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 137-8 v Worcs - target 184

Shane Snater and Sam Cook have brought Essex within 50 runs of their target.

Commentator Frank Watson of BBC Hereford & Worcester has pointed out how nice it must be for the hosts to be able to call on the vast experience of former South Africa Test skipper Dean Elgar as a runner for Snater in this pressurised situation.

    Cheeky, Frank.

  7. Postpublished at 15:06 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 & 20-0 v Surrey 525 & 20-0

Five overs gone in the Notts second innings.

No wickets down is the crucial piece of information.

    43 overs remaining.

Somerset have taken a full 24 points from their game with Durham.

Unless Surrey do something pretty spectacular, the gap will be down to 24 before they meet in Taunton, starting on 9 September.

    Somerset 492 & 263-5 dec v Durham 336 & 126

Somerset celebrate a Jack Leach wicketImage source, Getty Images

Jack Leach wraps up a resounding Somerset win by bowling last man Daniel Hogg first ball!

That gives Leach second-innings figures of 7-50 and 12 overall for the match.

What a performance by the left-arm spinner. England's loss and all that...

It's a massive result for Somerset, who will narrow the gap on Surrey at the top of the table if the champions fail to win at Trent Bridge - and they're due at Taunton the week after next, incidentally.

  9. wicket

WICKET: Raine c Banton b Leach 2published at 15:01 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 126-9

    Just one to go...

Ben Raine tries to turn Jack Leach on the leg side and the catch is safely pouched by Tom Banton at short leg.

  10. Ten-wicket haul for Jack Carsonpublished at 15:00 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 252-8

A magic moment for Sussex off-spinner Jack Carson!

A 10th wicket in the match for the Northern Irishman - five in each innings - as he is too good for tailender Jack Morley.

It's a super ball that is close to LBW and bowled, but it's adjudged as caught behind.

5-65 now to go with his 5-90 yesterday.

  11. Fab Farhan's first matchpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 & 5-0 v Surrey 525 & 177-9 dec

Before we concentrate on the Notts second innings, let's reflect on Farhan Ahmed's effort in this game.

    7-140 in the first innings.

    3-77 in the second.

    Debut match figures of 76.4-11-217-10.

A remarkable effort from a boy aged 16 years and 192 days.

  12. 50 runs

50 for Adam Lythpublished at 14:55 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec & 104-1 v Middx 522

Adam Lyth steers Luke Hollman for a single and that's his second half-century of the match, from 63 balls.

Still time for him to turn that into a century, with 48 overs left in the match. Yorkshire lead by 183 overall.

  13. wicket

WICKET Pepper lbw b Virdi 22published at 14:51 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 129-8 v Worcs - target 184

    Amar VirdiImage source, Rex Features

Essex are eight down, still 55 short of victory.

Michael Pepper cannot follow his first inning heroics, he steps back in his crease, plays across the line and is pinned infront.

Amar Virdi wheels away like he's scored a last-minute winner. Not yet, young man.

    Two more to find.

Sam Cook joins the injured Shane Snater.

You could hear a pin drop at Chelmsford.

    What a cricket match.

  14. wicket

WICKET Donald c Unadkat b Carson 28published at 14:51 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 252-7

Jack Carson is spinning Sussex towards a crucial victory.

Aneurin Donald becomes his third wicket since lunch and fourth in the innings as he is caught sweeping.

Not the best way to go when you are trying to save the game.

Carson is one away from his first-ever ten wicket-match.

  15. Ten-wicket haul for Jack Leachpublished at 14:50 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 124-8

Jack Leach (Somerset)Image source, Getty Images

That took one ball after the resumption - and Jack Leach has his second five-for of this match!

Brydon Carse prods outside off stump and the edge flies away to - who else? - Craig Overton in the slips.

Carse goes for 12 and Leach has a 10-wicket haul for the fifth time in his career.

  16. wicket

WICKET Kimber c Carlson b Douthwaite 26published at 14:49 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 312-6

It's not Peter Handscomb, but it'll do for Glamorgan.

Louis Kimber has led a charmed life but cracks Dan Douthwaite straight to Kiran Carlson at cover.

Liam Trevaskis joins Handscomb, unbeaten on 109, with the visitors 13 ahead.

  17. Play to restart at Tauntonpublished at 14:49 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 124-7

Somerset supporters breathe a sigh of relief as the rain eases off, the covers are removed - and play will resume shortly.

Three wickets needed by the home side.

  18. Postpublished at 14:47 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec & 92-1 v Middx 522

James Wharton rocks onto the back foot and pumps leg-spinner Luke Hollman over mid-on for six as Yorkshire extend their advantage to 171.

It's fairly gloomy at Headingley, so the floodlights are on and Leus du Plooy is bowling his slow left-armers in tandem with Hollman.

  19. SURREY DECLAREpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 177-9 dec

Last man Dan Worrall comes in and smashes two sixes in five balls before captain Rory Burns discreetly waves the batters in at the end of the over.

Surrey lead by 297 runs and Notts have 48 overs to bat on what is a turning pitch.

  20. Leicestershire leadpublished at 14:41 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 303-5

Another little milestone ticked off by the wily Foxes.

Peter Handscomb takes the visitors ahead in the game, meaning a couple of overs will be lost for the change of innings, even if they are bowled out.

The early wicket for Glamorgan got their tails up but they haven't built on that despite a few chances.

So long as Handscomb is there they are not losing this.
