  1. wicket

    WICKET Jacks b Patterson-White 2published at 11:53 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 67-3

    Oh hello!

Two wickets in the over for Barrel after one in his previous 55 in the match!

A dream ball for a slow left-armer round the wicket to a right-hander as he turns one past Will Jacks' outside edge and disturbs the stumps.

Jacks the batter won't be too happy, Jacks the spinner may fancy this if he gets the ball later today.

  2. 100 runs

100 partnership for Leicestershirepublished at 11:53 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 174-3

This vastly experienced duo have brought up their century stand in 208 balls, Peter Handscomb with 54 of them and Ajinkya Rahane 39.

It certainly hasn't been entirely plain sailing but they have certainly disrupted the Glamorgan momentum and might yet save the game entirely.

  3. ouch!

Postpublished at 11:52 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 35-3 (target 420)

The game is under way again, but Andy Umeed might wish he was still in the safety of the Somerset dressing-room after taking a powerful blow from the bat of George Drissell.

Kasey Aldridge pitched it up and Drissell let fly, straight at Umeed who is fielding close in on the off side and turned to evade the ball but couldn't prevent it thudding into his backside.

Fortunately Umeed's fine to continue, but he'll probably be nursing a bit of a shiner in the morning.

  4. wicket

    WICKET Patel c Hameed b Patterson-White 21published at 11:50 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 65-2

    Great catch skip!

Ryan Patel goes back to Liam Patterson-White and tries to hit it legside, but Haseeb Hameed takes the catch with both feet off the ground at short midwicket.

A second wicket of the day for the man known as 'Barrel'.

  5. wicket

WICKET Elgar lbw b Leach 6published at 11:47 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 17-1 v Worcs - target 184

Joe Leach takes a wicketImage source, Rex Features

Now then. Joe Leach has tightened up, as we said, and has now pinned the dangerous Dean Elgar infront on his crease as he slightly lost balance.

Great delivery, and there's the breakthrough they wanted.

Tom Westley strides out to join Robin Das with 167 runs still to find.

  6. Postpublished at 11:46 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 177-3

Glamorgan hands are on their heads.

The ball pops up off Ajinkya Rahana but just evades the dive of short leg Asa Tribe.

He's chipped one just over the head of mid-off Dan Douthwaite a moment earlier too.

Mason Crane sends down a long-hop from the next ball and is smashed away to cow corner for four.

    Face like thunder.

  7. Postpublished at 11:45 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 16-0 v Worcs - target 184

Spinner Amar Virdi is opening the bowling opposite Joe Leach and might just have found a bit of turn.

Robin Das takes a swipe at one which is flighted in and edges just over the outstretched arm of keeper Michael Pepper.

Three tight overs after the loose opener from Leach. Pears would love a breakthrough.

  8. Play to resume at Tauntonpublished at 11:41 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 29-3

Good news for Somerset supporters... the covers are now being removed and play is due to restart at 11:45 BST.

  9. 50 runs

50 for Wayne Madsenpublished at 11:40 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 167-2

A half-century for Wayne Madsen to back up his 138 in the first innings.

The Derbyshire veteran is in good nick after a 70 against Glamorgan last week.

The 40-year-old has batted for 95 balls for this one with six fours.

  10. 50 runs

50 for Peter Handscombpublished at 11:37 British Summer Time 1 September

    Glamorgan 550-9 dec v Leicestershire 251 & 170-3

The Australian gets on the back foot and cracks Mason Crane along the floor back past the stumps at the other end for his ninth four to bring up his half-century from 94 balls.

The deficit is down to 129 and a dream scenario for Glamorgan yesterday lunchtime is turning into a bit of a nightmare.

The partnership with Ajinkya Rahane ticks closer to three figures.

  11. Essex chase under waypublished at 11:35 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 9-0 v Worcs - target 184

Robin Das and Dean Elgar head out needing a smidge over two runs an over to secure the win over Worcestershire.

Two come from the first ball from Joe Leach. Another two from the second. Nine off the over in total.

Essex don't want to drag this out.

  12. 50 runs

50 up for Surreypublished at 11:34 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 50-1

Successive fours from Rory Burns off Farhan Ahmed and it's the best over of the morning with nine coming off it.

The 50 is up in the second innings - the lead is now 170.

  13. Fingers crossed rain stays awaypublished at 11:30 British Summer Time 1 September

Looking at the weather forecast, there are showers, some of them heavy and thundery, heading up from the south.

But, with a glass half-full attitude, they do look to be scattered and reducing in size as they move northwards.

It's staying dry and brighter in the far north and very warm in the south east.

So, fingers crossed we don't have too many lengthy delays.

  14. dropped catch

Dropped catch by Jonny Bairstowpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 601-6 dec v Middx 462-6

It might not have much bearing on the outcome, but Yorkshire's overworked spinners probably wouldn't mind putting their feet up - and failing to take the seventh Middlesex wicket won't help that aim.

Dan Moriarty hasn't managed a wicket yet and he should have had one just now, finding the edge of Toby Roland-Jones' bat.

However, Jonny Bairstow, who took the catch to dismiss Luke Hollman off Dom Bess, fails to scoop this one up at second slip.

  15. 300 first class wickets for Sam Cookpublished at 11:28 British Summer Time 1 September

    #bbccricket

The 27-year-old now has 300 red ball scalps for Essex at an average of 19 and change.

He also has more than 400 in all formats for the club.

England's indifference has been Essex's gain...

  16. 150 runs

150 up for Derbyshirepublished at 11:24 British Summer Time 1 September

    Sussex 607-8 dec v Derbyshire 290 & 154-2

Jack Carson is already into his third over of what promises to be a busy day of bowling.

Wayne Madsen pushes one out into the covers for a couple to bring up the 150 for Derbyshire.

He then reverse-sweeps the next for four. No signs of Derbyshire handing this on a plate to the Division Two leaders.

  17. Middlesex avoid follow-onpublished at 11:22 British Summer Time 1 September

    Yorks 610-6 dec v Middx 454-6

Ryan Higgins uses his feet to dispatch Dom Bess for a straight-driven boundary - and that shot ensures that Middlesex will not be following on at Headingley.

The visitors trail by 143 and you wonder whether they might just be tempted to bat on for as long as they can - it's virtually impossible for Yorkshire to win this now.

  18. wicket

    WICKET Virdi c & b Cook 2published at 11:21 British Summer Time 1 September

    Essex 404 v Worcs 266 & 321

Essex need 184 runs to win.

Sam Cook ends with 4-23 from 15 overs as Amar Virdi tries to clip away into the leg side only to loop a leading edge back to the bowler for a simple catch.

Logan van Beek finishes unbeaten on 22.

Worcestershire will have wanted to bat plenty more time and added at least 50 more run here, if not 75 to give Essex something to worry about.

  19. Postpublished at 11:21 British Summer Time 1 September

    Notts 405 v Surrey 525 & 32-1

With Somerset off the field, any time lost in cider country, benefits Surrey.

They have added 12 runs in six overs so far so they don't need to push it too hard at this stage.

  20. rain stops play

Rain stops play at Tauntonpublished at 11:18 British Summer Time 1 September

    Somerset v Durham 29-3 (target 420)

The covers are coming on and the players are going off - which will be welcomed by the Durham contingent but an understandable source of frustration for the home side.

So far, Durham pair George Drissell and Callum Parkinson have acquitted themselves well, playing at the balls they need to and leaving those they don't.

Drissell has come down the pitch a couple of times to Jack Leach, driving the spinner to the long-on fence - the only boundaries of this innings so far.
