Travis Head's 19-ball half-century is not only the the fastest by an Australian in T20s but it also the fastest fifty scored against England in this format.

    Head c Cox b Mahmood 59 (Aus 86-1)

Travis Head's blistering knock is brought to an end after he skies a short ball from Saqib Mahmood and debutante Jordan Cox pouches the catch at deep square leg.

  4. Aus 86-0published at 5.5 overs

Another ironic cheer as Travis Head finds backward point off Saqib Mahmood and is denied a single.

A fortunate flash of Head's blade sees a bottom edge fly past Salt for four. Australia getting all the breaks.

I'm not saying the England fans have given up hope already but there was just an ironic cheer when, after 30 from the previous over, the ball didn't fly to the boundary.

The next two did, of course...

All of the build-up to this series has been about new-look teams, but Australia's is not nearly as new look as it could have been.

Cooper Connolly is not there. Jake Fraser-McGurk isn't playing either. I know he struggled against Scotland but there has been so much hype about him it seems deflating to leave him out.

So aside from Matt Short you have pretty much all the players who were involved in the T20 World Cup. It seems a bit uninventive. Why not give the youngsters a go?

  7. 50 runs

Fifty for Headpublished at 5.1 overs

Forlorn faces on the England balcony as Travis Head brings up his half-century off just 19 balls with a six round the corner off Saqib Mahmood.

  8. How's stat?!published at 19:10 British Summer Time 11 September

    Andy Zaltzman
    Statistician on Test Match Special

Travis Head has hit one out of three deliveries in the powerplay to the boundary over the last five years.

  9. 6 runs

    Aus 71-0published at 5 overs

Three sixes in a row from Travis Head and 30 off the over.

Sam Curran is fuller with his fourth ball, but Head gets under it and smashes it over cow corner for six.

He then square drives the England left-arm seamer for another six before finishing with another four.

Interesting change of conditions for England's bowlers. The Hundred - with its slightly controversial batch of balls - had an average of 1.1 degrees of new ball swing. Tonight? Just 0.3 degrees of swing so far.

  11. 6 runs

    Aus 50-1published at 4.3 overs

Travis Head elegantly swivels on his heels and pummels Sam Curran into the stands for six.

  12. Aus 40-1published at 4.1 overs

Well, Paul. Sam Curran into the attack and starts with a back-of-the hand slower ball.

Travis Head simply waits for it and pulls the left-armer to the fence for four.

Have England bowlers ever heard of mixing the over up to keep the batter guessing ? No yorkers, no bouncers , just the usual boring line and length….

  14. Head survivespublished at 19:04 British Summer Time 11 September

Travis Head knew immediately he wasn't out and the review backed up his call. That hit his shirt. Not out.

I think it might have taken Travis Head's shirt on the way through.

The England players are walking back to their fielding positions.

  16. Australia reviewpublished at 3.3 overs

Saqib Mahmood has Travis Head out caught behind after the Aussie left-hander appears to clip a pull.

Given out on field, but Head has immediately reviewed it.

    There definitely was a noise.

That was a heck of shot from Travis Head. It wasn't really that bad a ball from Jofra Archer. The shot looks a bit awkward but Head has great wrists and was able to whip it through mid-wicket.

  18. Aus 35-0published at 3 overs

A curse word from Travis Head is caught on the stump microphone after he misses out on a short freebie from the penultimate ball of Jofra Archer's over.

The Aussie left-hander makes amends with the final ball of the over, though, as Head whips him through mid-wicket for four.

After the rain earlier, there are now sunglasses on in the press box to deal with the glare of the low sun coming in.

Those of us who were not so well prepared are having to squint but even squinting I can tell you that the first of those two sixes from Matthew Short was enormous!

  20. Aus 27-0published at 2.3 overs

Wooooosh. Jofra Archer has Travis Head deep in his crease with some quick bowling. England have two slips in place.

Head throws his hands at one a little fuller from Archer and smears it uppishly through the covers for four.
