England will hopefully use a bit more brain than Australia did in their innings. Phil Salt will play his natural way and I think if they are smart through their middle phase, they can set up the run chase nicely as there are no demons in the pitch.

That no-ball looked a mighty tight call to make with the naked eye!

  3. Eng 4-0published at 0.1 overs

Will Jacks carves the free hit to backward point and England can run two.

    Pretty chaotic start.

    Target 180

    Ha, would you believe it?

Phil Salt skies the ball straight to Mitchell Marsh at mid-off - but the umpire signals no ball.

  5. Postpublished at 20:32 British Summer Time 11 September

Xavier Bartlett will open the bowling in just his fourth T20 international for Australia.

No rest for the wicked in T20s. England openers Phil Salt and Will Jacks are ready to go.

Mitch Marsh is gathering the Australia players in a huddle. It looks a very chilly evening in Southampton so plenty of jumpers on show from the tourists.

    Perth or Brisbane this ain't.

Liam Livingstone to Sky Sports: "Pretty good comeback to be fair. We know what they possess in the powerplay. We tried our best to contain them and take wickets. It didn't come off tonight but it was a good comeback.

On bowling in tandem with Adil Rashid: "Adil Rashid is always so reliable for us. He is great to have in your side. It was nice to get a bowl as well, get a couple of wickets and enjoy my cricket. I'm loving being out there in an England shirt."

On chasing 180: "I think we can chase it down. The pitch is good, certainly was at the start. It gripped a bit for spin. Hopefully with a bit of dew it gets better under lights."

    Thanks, Timothy.

I'm not sure quite what to make of that. I was looking up the record books when Travis Head blasted Australia to 86-0 from 5.5 overs, but England dragged it back superbly.

    Finely poised I reckon.

    England need 180 to win.

At 118-2 in the 10th over and the ball disappearing to all parts they would have snapped your hand off for that.

Can they do it? Tom Mallows will give you his prediction, and talk you through England's chase.

    Zampa run out (Cox/Salt) 5 (Aus 179)

A dive from Adam Zampa but he's well short of his ground and is duly given run out by the third umpire.

That run out is a symbol of the wastefulness of Australia's night.

    Everyone is walking off.

  12. Umpire reviewpublished at 19.3 overs

Adam Zampa hits Jofra Archer for four with a biff through long-off but a ball later looks well short of his ground after taking a risky second following a fine throw from Jordan Cox.

It's gone upstairs but Zampa looks toast.

  13. Aus 174-9published at 19.1 overs

Oooofff, that was close. Jofra Archer round the wicket to the left-handed Josh Hazlewood who manages to jam his bat down to protect it crashing into his leg stump and the ball squirts away for a single.

  14. Aus 173-9published at 19 overs

Adam Zampa fends off a dot ball from Saqib Mahmood to finish the 19th over.

    Jofra Archer on a hat-trick...

Australia will probably be bowled out now, which given the position they were in is extraordinary.

England have hauled it back incredibly well.

  16. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18.1 overs

    Green b Mahmood 13 (Aus 172-9)

England have nailed their yorkers. Saqib Mahmood goes full towards middle and leg and Cameron Green has no answer.

    A superb fightback this.

    Jofra Archer is on fire!

  18. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 18 overs

    Bartlett b Archer 0 (Aus 172-8)

Professor Xavier would not have known how to play that, let alone Xavier Bartlett as a beauty of a yorker from Jofra Archer hits the base of his stumps.

    Australia eight down.

  19. Postpublished at 20:07 British Summer Time 11 September

    Steven Finn
Former England fast bowler on BBC Test Match Special

Jofra Archer saw Abbott move across and as a bowler your eyes light up and you say 'it doesn't matter about the length, just hit the stumps'.

  20. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 17.5 overs

    Abbott b Archer 4 (Aus 172-7)

Sean Abbott steps across his stumps and attempts to flick Jofra Archer fine, but he is unable to pick up the length and is bowled by the England quick.
