    Warwks 34-0 v Hants 298

Kyle Abbott takes over from Keith Barker and his first ball squares up Alex Davies and flies off the outside edge wide of the slips for four.

The fourth ball is flicked away leg side for four more.

This mini session has had everything bar wickets. Runs have flown off both the middle and the edge of the bat.

Five overs remain in the day's play.

  2. Postpublished at 18:22 23 June

    Kent 244 v Lancashire 29-1

Dot-ball central at Canterbury as Lancashire attempt to see out the evening.

Oh, a rare single from Luke Wells to end Beyers Swanepoel's fifth over.

    Five overs remain.

  3. Postpublished at 18:19 23 June

    Warwks 25-0 v Hants 298

Alex Davies gets a thick outside edge off Keith Barker but the ball races safely through third man for four.

A few alarm bells for the hosts in this mini session of play.

Muhammad Abbas continues from the Birmingham End and Will Rhodes is able to leave a delivery that spears down the leg side.

Very rare for Abbas to not hit the mark.

    Essex v Durham 445-4 - close

    David Brett
    BBC Essex

    Without a doubt, it's been Durham's day.

  5. 'Aldridge stepped up very impressively'published at 18:16 23 June

    Notts 326-8 v Somerset - close

    Anthony Gibson
    BBC Radio Somerset

Somerset have stuck to their guns pretty well.

It's a weakened Somerset attack without their captain Lewis Gregory but Kasey Aldridge has stepped up very impressively.

  6. Northants all out in Cardiffpublished at 18:16 23 June

    Glamorgan v Northants 279

First-class debutant Gus Miller comes down the track to Timm van der Gugten and tries a baseball-type smash over the off-side.

But he doesn't get enough on it and Kiran Carlson runs round to take a good catch and bring the Northants first innings to an end.

Emilio Gay top scored with 65 but they only take one batting point, while Glamorgan claim all three with the ball.

  7. Postpublished at 18:14 23 June

    Kent 244 v Lancashire 25-1

Seven overs remaining in the day at Canterbury, where Josh Bohannon (18no) is leading the Lancashire reply after that early departure of Keaton Jennings.

  8. Postpublished at 18:14 23 June

    Warwks 21-0 v Hants 298

Muhammad Abbas strays to leg with the fourth ball of his first over and Will Rhodes helps the ball round the corner for four.

Just the two runs from Keith Barker's second over at the other end.

Abbas is round the wicket to Rhodes this time and the Warwickshire opener is reaching for the ball a little, scooping it into the leg side.

The fifth ball is wider and driven through wide mid off for four.

    Eight overs left before stump.

  9. Close of play at Scarboroughpublished at 18:13 23 June

    Yorkshire 348-3 v Gloucestershire

Yorkshire play out the final two overs without further damage at the end of a day dominated by their openers, Finlay Bean and Adam Lyth.

After Gloucestershire won the toss at Scarborough and chose to put the home side in, Bean and Lyth shared a stand of 307.

It broke a 97-year-old club-record first-wicket stand against Gloucestershire and Bean went on to make 164 before being caught off Graeme van Buuren.

Lyth followed for 129 but Yorkshire will start day two on the brink of a third batting point, and plenty of time to add one or two more.

  10. Close at Chelmsford - Durham dominantpublished at 18:10 23 June

    Essex v Durham 445-4

It's been all Durham today, much to the chagrin of title-chasing Essex.

Centuries from Alex Lees (113) and Ollie Robinson (146no) have the visitors firmly in control at the end of day one. Robinson will have his highest score of 171* for Durham firmly in his sights upon Monday's resumption.

David Bedingham (65), Colin Ackermann (58no) and Michael Jones (38) have played their part too.

A couple of wickets for debutant Eathan Bosch the only real bright spot for the hosts. Simon Harmer will have fewer worse days than his 1-131 today.

  11. Close of play at Trent Bridgepublished at 18:08 23 June

    Notts 326-8 v Somerset

Dillon Pennington gets a bit of width from Kasey Aldridge and cuts to point off the back foot for four.

The last over of the day will be bowled by Migael Pretorius.

Olly Stone strokes the ball through the off side for a single to move to 72. This is only his third career 50 and timely indeed after Notts crashed to 190-7 this afternoon.

Pennington edges just wide of Craig Overton at slip and gets a streaky four through third man.

The last ball of the day is wide of the off peg and driven wide of slip to third man for four more.

The ultimate frustration for any bowler.

Honours are just about even in this game after a spirited fightback from the Notts tail.

Olly Stone finishes on 74 not out and 16 shy of his career best.

  12. Postpublished at 18:08 23 June

    Worcs v Surrey 321-5

Almost two wickets in the over as Dan Lawrence miscues, but neither Matthew Waite nor Shoaib Bashir can make the necessary ground to reach the ball.

Lawrence jogs through for one and is 83 not out.

  13. Postpublished at 18:07 23 June

    Essex v Durham 443-4

Final over of the day at Chelmsford.

Can Ollie Robinson (145) bring up his 150?

  14. WICKET Foakes c Hose b Finch 52published at 18:04 23 June

    Worcs v Surrey 319-5

It's been quite a day in the field for Adam Hose.

His fourth catch - an excellent low effort - sends Ben Foakes on his way, with the umpire satisfied the ball did carry to slip.

Foakes put on 131 with Dan Lawrence, who has been joined by Jordan Clark for the final few overs.

  15. Postpublished at 18:02 23 June

    Warwks 10-0 v Hants 298

    An eventful first over.

The second delivery is edged short of slip and runs away for four.

    It's also a no ball.

Will Rhodes gets away with a leading edge wide of the four slips for four as he shapes to play to the on side.

A degree of calm ensues as Rhodes plays defensively into the off side.

Muhammad Abbas will bowl from the other end.

  16. Division Two updatepublished at 18:00 23 June

Yorkshire have lost their third wicket at Scarborough with James Wharton caught behind, pushing forward to Beau Webster, and they are 342-3 against Gloucestershire.

Gus Miller hooks James Harris for six and Northants are 270-9 in the 84th over against Glamorgan at Sophia Gardens.

Another 11 to go at Hove, where Sussex are 367-7 against Leicestershire, with John Simpson now 154 not out.

Middlesex are 275-7 against Derbyshire following two Toby Roland-Jones boundaries off Zak Chappell. Ryan Higgins is 78 not out.

  17. Warwickshire batting at Edgbastonpublished at 17:57 23 June

    Warwks 0-0 v Hants 298

    12 overs left tonight.

Keith Barker will open the bowling from the Pavilion End, bowling to Will Rhodes.

Warwickshire captain Alex Davies is at the non-striker's end.

  18. Postpublished at 17:56 23 June

    Worcs v Surrey 315-4

A century at New Road would be very timely for Dan Lawrence with England considering their selection options ahead of the summer Tests.

The Surrey batter collects two boundaries through the off-side off Tom Taylor and is 78 not out, with partner Ben Foakes 52.

Worcestershire fought well during the afternoon session, but this one has been all Surrey's - up to now.

  19. Postpublished at 17:55 23 June

    Notts 306-8 v Somerset

Dillon Pennington needs to play the anchor role and leave the batting to Olly Stone, at least in this session of play.

Pennington is off the mark in the fifth ball of the Kasey Aldridge over with a single to the off side.

Olly Stone sees out the over and there are three overs left tonight.

  20. WICKET Jennings b Swanepoel 0published at 17:54 23 June

    Kent 244 v Lancashire 7-1

Huge wicket for Kent near the end of day one. Hope restored.

Keaton Jennings out for a duck, utterly befuddled by the spin of Beyers Swanepoel.

Beat him all ends up and hit the leg stump, totally defeating the batter's defence.
