  1. NZ 40-1published at 5 overs

A beauty from Lauren Bell from the penultimate ball of the over as she beats the outside edge of Georgia Plimmer's bat, squaring up the New Zealand opener.

Hint of swing and movement off the pitch. Too good.

Too full again from Lauren Bell. On this pitch if you're too full it's lovely to drive.

  3. NZ 39-1published at 4.3 overs

Georgia Plimmer unaffected by the fall of the first wicket. She leans into a half volley from Lauren Bell which fizzes along the ground through mid-wicket for four.

A couple of balls later and Plimmer takes advantage of another over-pitched ball from Bell which she drives all along the carpet for four.

Really well bowled from Lauren Filer. It looks like a real misjudgement from Suzie Bates. She was stuck on the back foot to a ball that hit the pitch and skidded on. It was a pretty poor shot.

    Bates b Filer 16 (NZ 27-1)

England are delighted with this. Suize Bates caught stuck in her crease and is bowled by Lauren Filer.

She was maybe caught in two minds on whether to open the face or get forward and ends up playing an ugly swat.

A full-ish ball from Filer which was angled in at the stumps and did enough off the seam.

There isn't a lot of swing on offer, so they've got to think about dragging that length back a bit.

You've got to find a way to hit the stumps consistently and string a few dots together.

The technology shows the ball had clipped Georgia Plimmer's pad on its way through to wicketkeeper Amy Jones.

The on-field decision was the correct one.

I thought it was a wide so I need to get to my opticians and get my contact lenses changed!

Has Lauren Bell strangled Georgia Plimmer down the leg side here?

It's given not out. But Heather Knight asks the question.

  10. NZ 23-0published at 2.3 overs

There's a little bit of swing for Lauren Bell and she induces a big fresh-air shot from Georgia Plimmer wide of off stump.

A couple of balls later, though, and Plimmer decisvely meets a similar delivery from Bell with the middle of the bat and the ball disappears to the fence.

England will be disappointed with this start. They've coughed up some boundary balls.

There doesn't appear to be much margin for error on this pitch, and, with this beautiful British weather, the outfield is pretty quick.

  12. NZ 17-0published at 2 overs

Lauren Filer a little bit tighter in the rest of the over, and her speeds are pretty good as well.

Lauren Filer is quite raw at the moment so you've got to accept the consistency won't be quite there. There's going to be some bad balls but there will be some brilliant ones as well!

  14. NZ 15-0published at 1.2 overs

Too short from Lauren Filer to start with and Suzie Bates takes full advantage by pulling her first delivery for four.

Bates chips the next ball up in the air over mid-wicket, but it thuds safely into the turf.

It sounds a bit simplistic, but sometimes it's just about running in hard and hoping for the best!

  16. NZ 9-0published at 1 over

A single to finish the over from Suzie Bates allows her to keep the strike.

Lauren Bell looked a little rusty there. Let's see if Lauren Filer is a bit more on the money.

  17. NZ 8-0published at 0.3 overs

Lauren Bell too full again. This time its wide of off stump and Suzie Bates cashes in with a crisp four struck through the covers.

Sophie Ecclestone quickly gave up the chase on that one - looks like a very quick outfield at Chester-le-Street.

  18. NZ 4-0published at 0.1 overs

A classy start by Size Bates who stylishly clips a slightly over-pitched delivery from Lauren Bell through mid-on for four.

New Zealand opener Suzie Bates has just taken guard.

Lauren Bell has the ball in hand and is going through some final stretches.

    Play.
