It's been a really interesting first 10 overs. Oman will be happy with runs on the board but can they keep wickets in hand in the four or five overs?

The key will be if Athavale can stay in.

  2. Oman 78-4published at 10 overs

The players are having a drink at the halfway point of this innings.

There's a change in the live texter's seat too - it'll be Andrew Petrie and his moustache to see you through the next wee while.

  3. Oman 77-4published at 9.4 overs

Michael Leask was superb with both bat and ball in Scotland's win over Namibia on Thursday, and he's into the action for the first time today.

A decent start too, with Oman content to milk him for ones and twos.

You feel it's well deserved in the end. The deliveries which were pulled out of should have been a dot and then a wicket.

    Fair enough to Scotland.

  5. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.5 overs

Kail run out Sole 5 (Oman 71-4)

    This one is out!

A dreadful mix-up sees Khalid Kail stranded in the middle of the pitch, and Mark Watt whips off the bails with real glee after some good work from Chris Sole in the deep.

    Scotland enjoyed that.

  6. Oman 70-3published at 8.4 overs

    Controversy here.

Khalid Kail pulls away after Mark Watt has released the ball, and it crashes into middle stump.

The umpires rule it a dead ball, but I reckon that could and maybe should have been out.

  7. Oman 66-3published at 8 overs

Sharif closes out the over - just five runs came from it.

Here's how he removed Oman captain Aqib Ilyas earlier on...

  8. Oman 65-3published at 7.5 overs

Safyaan Sharif is bowling a really tight line here, giving nothing away.

You sense Oman are looking for boundaries and will grow frustrated in their absence.

You can imagine Zeeshan will be pretty frustrated with that dismissal. He was trying to work it fine and beat the inside of short third.

Excellent from Watt, keeping his discipline. Good timing for Scotland.

  10. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 7 overs

    Zeeshan c Cross b Watt 3 (Oman 61-3)

Brilliant gloves from Matthew Cross, and Scotland have a third!

Zeeshan Maqsood looks to guide Mark Watt through third man, but only gets a faint edge through to the Scotland keeper, who takes a sharp catch.

Cross and Watt have combined for many a wicket over the years - they are club teammates at Heriot's in Edinburgh.

The length that you have to bowl on this pitch is similar to what we saw in the England game yesterday. Hard length, pace off could be effective.

The batters will know if it's full and in your half, you have to punish it.

This was the first wicket to fall.

Naseem Khushi caught off the bowling of Chris Sole.

  13. Oman 53-2published at 6 overs

A couple of boundaries from Pratik Athavale end the powerplay for Oman.

Despite those two wickets, the game feels very much in the balance at this stage.

Big wicket for Scotland. They needed that. Things were starting to look good for Oman and their main man is heading back to the hut.

England fans will know Sharif well, he got the winning wicket against England in 2018 - got Mark Wood out with a yorker. He's very consistent and on the verge of being Scotland's all-time wicket taker.

  15. Oman 44-2published at 5.2 overs

Umpire's call on leg stump, and Ilyas has to go.

Sharif enjoyed that one, and well he might.

There's no bat, but is it sliding down the leg side?

  17. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.2 overs

    Ilyas LBW b Sharif 16 (Oman 44-1)

Safyaan Sharif is into the attack on his 200th cap, and he pins Aqib Ilyas in front of the stumps.

The Oman skipper is given out on the field, but he sends it upstairs...

Here's a look at the first six of the contest, from Oman opener Naseem Khushi, who has since been dismissed.

  19. Oman 40-1published at 5 overs

Pratik Athavale heaves Sole through midwicket, but some excellent fielding from Chris Greaves keeps it down to two.

It's an interesting period of the game. Oman have certainly come back into things after a fantastic start by Scotland. They'll want to break this partnership sooner rather than later.

We don't have a clear idea of what a good total is yet but Oman are setting a good platform.
