  1. Lunch - Ind 98-2published at 25 overs

    Jaiswal 62, Gill 1

Yashasvi Jaiswal and Shubman Gill trade a trio of singles in a low-key final over.

It's pretty even at lunch with India 98-2

Chris Woakes took the early wicket of KL Rahul before India, who were put in to bat, rebuilt through Yashasvi Jaiswal and Karun Nair. However, on the stroke of lunch Brydon Carse snared Nair to give England two wickets in the session.

That wicket gives us a shared session. Carse really deserved that wicket. Bowled very well in his first spell with no reward.

  3. Ind 95-2published at 24 overs

Shubman Gill safely defends the remaining three balls of the over.

England's mood will have improved considerably with the wicket of Karun Nair.

We'll have one more over before lunch and it's time for the spin of Shoaib Bashir.

England really needed that and India would've felt they were the better side in this session before that wicket.

And there's still some time left.

Just what the doctor ordered for England. Ben Stokes rings the changes and it's a simple catch at second slip.

There's no doubt today that there's frustration for the seam bowlers because there's not much movement for them.

  11. Ind 93-1published at 23 overs

A slight heart in mouth moment for Yashasvi Jaiswal as he attempts to pull Ben Stokes' shorter ball but can only top edge it high into the Edgbaston sky. It drops comfortably short of Chris Woakes at fine leg.

India take a single and add another before the end of the over.

As soon as Carse came out of the attack India moved into the ascendancy. Tongue not convincing against the top order.

Jaiswal is such a talent and he's got a rounded game. He's so young, he's got good temperament and will want to back up that hundred from the first innings [at Headingley].

He's not saying no to the contest.

  14. Ind 91-1published at 22 overs

Yashasvi Jaiswal makes it three boundaries in a row. Josh Tongue's sixth over costs 14 runs.

It's looking like India will be the happier of the two sides at lunch.

Yashasvi Jaiswal hooks Josh Tongue for four to move to 49 and brings up his half-century in similarly glorious fashion, cutting away for another boundary.

He was handed a lifeline on 12 after an lbw decision was adjudged umpire's call and has grasped it with both hands. He has 53 off 59 balls.

I've been really impressed with Karun Nair coming up to number three. He's been really decisive, flawless and comfortable.

He's holding the fort as India have rebuilt nicely with him and Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The only time Karun Nair crossed 30 in his Test career, he ended up making a triple century! England either need to get him soon or be prepared for a long afternoon!

    Gaurav Reddy, India

Nair has looked good after being promoted to number three. He batted at six at Headingley.

  20. Ind 77-1published at 21 overs

Ben Stokes persists with the short stuff.

He's penalised for a front-foot no ball and later concedes one single to Karun Nair.
