Yet another baffling team selection from India! Can’t fathom at all. What has Sai Sudharsan done wrong to be dropped after just 1-test? 2 bits & parts bowlers in Nitish and Sundar can never be better than Kuldeep.

    Subi, London.

  2. 'Maybe our fortunes will change at Edgbaston'published at 10:49 British Summer Time 2 July

India captain Shubman Gill, speaking to Sky Sports: "Three changes, Nitish Kumar Reddy and Washington Sundar come in. And in place of Bumrah, Akash Deep is playing.

"This is an important match for us, but third match at Lord's there may be something more in the wicket and we thought we'll play him there.

"This year has been a year of chaos. A lot of teams who haven't won a lot have won, so maybe that'll change fortunes for us [at Edgbaston]."

I do trust England to know what they're doing. Jofra Archer has had a high profile workload issue in the past and they're not going to make that mistake again.

  4. 'We're in good order here'published at 10:46 British Summer Time 2 July

England captain Ben Stokes, speaking to Sky Sports: "We're going to bowl. Overhead conditions are for bowling."

On not selecting Jofra Archer for this match: "When you bring Jofra Archer back you consider everyone in your squad. It was a really good team performance last week and the bowlers performed well.

"With the ball you understand the conditions a bit more. We're in good order here."

Another toss won by Ben Stokes. I’m not sure if I’m misremembering but it feels like Stokes has an incredible record of winning the toss as captain. Wondering if Zaltzman can help out with the actual figures.

    Owen

By my calculations, he's won 20 tosses from 35 as captain.

England are unchanged at Edgbaston, meaning Jofra Archer will have to wait for his first Test appearance since 2021.

The fast bowler was included in the squad for the second Test after coming through a County Championship outing for Sussex against Durham unscathed.
