    A disastrous start for England...

Umpire's call on the top of the stumps! Curran survives. Just.

  4. Postpublished at 01:47 GMT 26 October

Looking again it has hit Curran's back leg just above the pad. Trouble...

  5. New Zealand reviewpublished at 01:46 GMT 26 October

    They'll review this too.

Curran is hit on the pad by Matt Henry first ball. It might be a touch high.

What's Sam Curran got? England's number seven is in during the ninth over!

What a great catch from Tom Latham - full stretch with a one-handed dive. Matt Henry has been outstanding in terms of finding any movement. He's such a dangerous bowler being able to move the ball away, which makes that nip-back delivery so much harder.

  8. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 8.3 overs

    Buttler c Latham b Henry 4 (Eng 33-5)

It had been coming! Jos Buttler misses the first two deliveries for Matt Henry's fifth over and then nicks the third. New Zealand can do no wrong. Wicketkeeper Tom Latham dives low to take another one-handed catch.

  9. Eng 33-4published at 8 overs

    Brook 23, Buttler 4

And now Harry Brook drives another for four.

The ball is still moving plenty. Brook is taking on New Zealand on his own.

Up with my two-year-old as we both have simultaneous norovirus. Despite being an England fan, there's something quite comforting to know that others are out there suffering just as much. Hopefully a fast recovery for both us and England.

    Eng 29-4published at 7.4 overs

Thwacked high and a very long way by Harry Brook. The ball bounces somewhere on the grassy bank.

  12. How's stat?!published at 01:37 GMT 26 October

Harry Brook has just passed 1,000 runs in ODI cricket in his 33rd innings for England.

  13. Eng 23-4published at 7 overs

Harry Brook dances around again and fails to make contact before standing still to biff another down the ground. That seems his best approach.

  14. Eng 18-4published at 6.3 overs

Harry Brook is going to try and throw back some punches.

He drills a drive back through mid-on.

  15. Eng 14-4published at 6 overs

    Brook 4, Buttler 4

At this rate England's innings could be over before the time the anthems ended.

If the match started at 2am, but it's now 1:29am, has the game actually started yet or are we watching one of multiple possible realities? One of many questions I ask myself as an England fan to provide some momentary relief.

    Matt from Peckham

Enjoying the cricket and the scenery from NZ, if not the score currently. Can’t sleep so watching on TV and following your good selves of course on the BBC. At this rate you’ll be tucked up in bed yourself by 4am!

    Mark in Surrey

The clocks have just gone back, right? Maybe if we all reset them again at 2am, it’ll go away like a bad dream?

  17. Eng 14-4published at 5.2 overs

"CATCH IT" yell those in black as Jos Buttler slaps his first ball in the air.

Unsurprisingly there's no-one on the boundary. Four runs.

Zak Foulkes is bowling some absolute seed!. It's the perfect delivery, angling in and them seaming away.

  19. wicket

    WICKETpublished at 5.1 overs

    Bethell b Foulkes 2 (Eng 10-4)

Doctor, doctor! Where have New Zealand been hiding Zak Foulkes?! This is another fine delivery.

He's round the wicket, angling it in but finds a bit of away swing to beat the defending Jacob Bethell's outside edge and bowl him all ends up.

  20. Eng 10-3published at 5 overs

Those of you sitting in A&E can sit a little more comfortably.

After a single to Jacob Bethell - the first run for 17 deliveries - Harry Brook drives through the covers for four.
