Welsh Fire bowler Shabnim Ismail speaking on Sky Sports: "It's been brilliant. I am so happy to be back with the Fire family and it is nice to get back and have a bowl today."

"It was a difficult wicket to bowl on. If you hit the surface nicely it is hard for the batters to get underneath it. Hopefully our batters can get out and chase it."

"I am always looking to add more pace and I have been working hard on that. Hopefully I can clock more speeds up and we can get over the line today."

"The wicket is quite tacky but hopefully the batters can take every ball on merit."

    Thanks Sam.

That innings from Georgia Wareham, especially that final ball six, has made things interesting.

On paper, you'd back Hayley Matthews, Sophia Dunkley, and Tammy Beaumont to make a good go of this and Welsh Fire did chase 151 against London Spirit last year... But 141 is an above-average first innings total at Headingley.

  3. Fire need 142 to winpublished at 16:12 British Summer Time 7 August

Strong finish from Northern Superchargers with Hollie Armitage (34 off 27) and Georgia Wareham (29 off 17) putting on 52 for the fifth wicket.

It's all set up for an exciting chase for Welsh Fire. To take you through it, it's over to Elizabeth Botcherby.

The innings is finished in style!

After four very good balls, Jess Jonassen loses it with the last.

A full toss and Georgia Wareham nails it over the leg side and into the crowd. Big six!

These two have run really well. They haven't been able to find the boundary because it is so big, but they have been able to scamper through for twos.

  6. Superchargers 132-4published at 97 balls

    Brilliant from Jess Jonassen.

Single first ball then a play and a miss from Hollie Armitage. Dot ball.

  7. Superchargers 131-4published at 95 balls

    Armitage 31, Wareham 22

It is Shabnim Ismail for the first five and a very good five it is, too.

No boundaries and just seven from the set in total. Good running from the Superchargers pair got them a couple of twos but they'll want the boundaries at this stage.

And it will be Jess Jonassen to finish off the innings, Alex called it.

I would have Shabnim Ismail and then Jess Jonassen for the last 10 balls if I was the captain.

  9. Superchargers 124-4published at 90 balls

Edged... but four. They all count.

Georgia Wareham again gives herself room to go over the off side and although she doesn't get the ball where she wants it, a thick nick is enough to beat short third and add for more to the total.

Hollie Armitage plays that shot very well. She did not need much on it because Davies had pace on.

If Superchargers can get a few more of those, they will be happy.

  11. Superchargers 117-4published at 86 balls

Across her stumps and scooping the ball down to the fine leg boundary.

Good stuff from Hollie Armitage. A harsh wide call against Freya Davies then add another run to the home side's total.

  12. Superchargers 112-4published at 85 balls

Jess Jonassen does a good job for Welsh Fire, keeping Hollie Armitage and Georgia Wareham to just four between them in that set.

If Superchargers want to get up to 140 or so, they need to get a move on now.

  13. Superchargers 108-4published at 80 balls

Eight runs from Katie Levick's latest set.

Northern Superchargers look to have set themselves up for a big finish with 20 balls left in the innings.

They've still got Bess Heath and Kate Cross to come in and go boundary hunting if they do lose a wicket or two.

  14. Superchargers 104-4published at 76 balls

Four more for Georgia Wareham - the third Australian in the home side.

She's on the sweep this time to send Katie Levick's flighted delivery away to the boundary.

A great shot from Georgia Wareham. She manipulated the field and shoved the ball through the covers.

Her strength is on the leg-side. That's where she does the damage.

  16. Superchargers 100-4published at 75 balls

    Smart batting from Georgia Wareham.

With nobody back on the off side, the right-hander backs away to give herself room before cutting Shabnim Ismail through the covers for four.

That brings up the 100 for Northern Superchargers.

  17. Superchargers 93-4published at 70 balls

Hayley Matthews bowls out after her second 10-ball set of the innings.

It's been a crucial spell, slowing Superchargers progress and taking the key wicket of Annabel Sutherland.

The West Indies all-rounder finishes with 2-18 from her 20 balls.

On reflection Annabel Sutherland will be thinking that she could have cut that into the off-side for four. But she had already committed to the shot.

Hayley Matthews dug it into the pitch, almost like a short ball.

With the big wicket of fellow all-rounder Annabel Sutherland, Hayley Matthews has now taken two or more wickets in nine of her 20 T20 matches so far in 2025.

    Big wicket for Welsh Fire!

Annabel Sutherland has been striking the ball nicely but she doesn't get all of the this one.

Length dragged back slightly by Hayley Matthews and Sutherland tries to pull over deep mid-wicket.

She doesn't get the timing or the distance, though, and Katie George takes the catch a couple of yards inside the rope.
